Ethics [Tuesday, October 22, 2013]

"Welcome back," Anakin said as he entered the classroom. "I hope your breaks were relaxing and productive and now you're ready to learn with new vigor...especially since you have a pop quiz today."

Because Anakin was sometimes evil.

He passed out sheets of paper. "No talking, no comparing answers...you have 40 minutes to complete the exam."

He sat back behind his desk and waited for the grumbling to settle down.

You're at a high school reunion and the last year of your life has been terrible. You're face to face with someone you barely recognize who wants to know what you've been up to. Do you lie or not? Why or why not?

Flick was so, so not in the mood for a quiz today. He was in pain, his mind was on other things and he was exhausted. So, he wasn't going to apologize if he accidentally got a little flippant on any replies here.

For the first question, he picked: lie. And then added, and it would be the most outlandish and ridiculous lie I could think of.

Karina scowled at the question because, seriously, as if her life would go terribly. She wouldn't let it.

But, ugh, if push came to shove: I'd tell the truth, she wrote, because lies always come out.

In about a year, Cordelia would be totally and completely lying in a situation like this.

But she wrote, I won't need to lie, my life is going to be fantastic.

Chaz considered this before scribbling down an answer. Not lie, but keep things vague and upbeat. If you can't recognize them, then they probably aren't someone who wants to hear about what your life has actually been like.

I tell the truth in excruciating detail. Maybe this person can help me out. If not, he learned to watch what he asks for.
