BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday Morning

The glittery enthusiasm of the 'Fandom High' banner strung across the wall was a little unexpected, but at least it confirmed Vider was where she was supposed to be, even if no one else appeared to be here yet. That part wasn't surprising, considering how early her flight had gotten in, but she seemed to be dealing with the earliness of the hour remarkably well. It might have had something to do with the fact that she was getting used to never getting quite enough sleep any more.

One of the trainers at the Hangadrottin War College had shoved a wad of unfamiliar money into her hand this morning, 'for the journey,' like she was going to some foreign country and not just the East coast. Still, she wasn't going to turn down money so she'd taken it without complaint and used some of it to buy a tea and pastry for breakfast, and once she picked out a seat by the wall where she could prop her spear case and sword up, she settled in to eat, picking the pastry apart into little shreds before putting them in her mouth.

So far this boarding school thing didn't seem so bad, although she was reserving final judgment until she'd actually seen the school.

No stranger to interdimentional, interspace, or intertime travel, Danny had very little figuring out where he needed to be to help him get to school, though the terminal as a whole had him incredibly distracted. Along with his usual luggage, there were now several bags of chintzy souvenirs and other random crap that had managed to suck him in to send to his fellow Warriors back home.

"Alright!" he said, once he found the terminal for Fandom High and regarded the sign approvingly. "Fandom High, here we come!"

"Who are you talking to?" Raleigh didn't understand the need for needless exposition when he wasn't inside a giant, monster-fighting robot.

But as soon as he was in that robot, it was time to shout everything.

"No one in particular," Danny admitted easily, shrugging a shoulder and giving the other young man a charming, lopsided grin. "Just pumping myself up, man. Getting the mojo moving. That new school groooove."

Why, yes, those were little wavy groovy hand gestures in the air.

"I'm Danny, man," he added, turning a groovy hand into an offered hand. "Nice to meet ya."

"Raleigh," he replied, taking said hand for a totally manly shake. "You're excited about this?"

"Aren't you?" Danny asked, brows lifting in considerable surprise. "I mean, I'm totally shivved about this. I've never been to the twenty-first century before. It's going to be bah-hoooonk-eeeerrrs, in, like, the good way, not the bad way."

"Uh." What. "Right."

No, seriously, what.

Hmm. Raleigh didn't seemed too shivved about it after all, which made Danny frown thoughtfully for a little. He may have even rubbed his chin a little.

"I mean," he tried, "it much be pretty routine for you then, right? Just high school? No big deal?"

"Well, this is my first year of high school," Raleigh admitted to the crazy kid.

"That's good, then, right?" asked Danny. "You'll be all new and full of excitement and new lifelong memories."

"...it's high school." From how Yancy talked about it, there was way too much home work.

"Hmmm," Danny considered this point. "Point. But," he tried, "it's high school, the focal point of adolescent interaction for a good part of the beginning of this century."

You know, until the alien invasion Apocalypse that threw everything all whacky, but, you know, he probably shouldn't tell people about all of that stuff unless he wanted to fit himself into a new time pair of socks.

"These," he said, hand to his hard, "are our formidable years, Raleigh. Will we choose to make them truly shiv? This is where it all begins, our destinies. Our futures."

Our smooching on totally cute girls.

"Shiv?" Raleigh, how was that the only thing you got out of that speech?

Re: Wait For the Shuttle

[identity profile] toomuchmoop.livejournal.com 2013-08-31 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, you know," Danny waved a dismissive hand. "Shiv. Or not shiv. Shiv would be a real luscious lady wanting to smooch all over your face, while not shiv...would be some stupid hacker pack ragging on you real bad all the time, just because your nipples stuck out a little bit..."

Not that he was pulling the second example from any traumatic personal experiences or anything.

"...what." DANNY, YOU FRIGHTEN HIM SO.

Re: Wait For the Shuttle

[identity profile] toomuchmoop.livejournal.com 2013-08-31 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Danny shook his head. "Now that," he said, "is a long story. Maybe I can explain it some time over a game of Goblintown sometime. Basically, though, shiv is good, not shiv is not good, it's going to be a few hundred years before it really comes into general colloquial speech."

"Indeed I did!" Danny beamed as if he should feel proud that the girl noticed. Plus, a girl noticed. Him. Or his shopping bags, which were, in a sense, a part of him. "Picked up some things for my friends back home, they love this kind of stuff. Ready for the trip and our impending first day?"

That made Danny frown a little. "Naw," he said, "you always have a choice. I mean, you should. You could probably just turn right around and be all, 'Man, this is bunk, I'm outs.' But why would you want to? This place is going to be hecka awesome."

Re: Wait For the Shuttle

[identity profile] toomuchmoop.livejournal.com 2013-08-31 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I am determined," Danny said, his face drawn in a resolute expression of mega seriousness, pounding a fist into his palm, "that this shall be awesome or bust."

Then a smile split the serious face into a warmer one as he added, "And I'm Danny. Nice to meet you, Vider."

[identity profile] toomuchmoop.livejournal.com 2013-08-31 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
"That sign," said Danny, enthusiastically gesturing towards it with both his arms, "is hecka awesome. I mean, how could a sign with that much glitter be a bad thing?"

But then he narrowed his eyes up at the glittering brilliance of it and tapped his chin. "Although," he postulated, "it could be a trap..."

One had to consider such things as a Bravest Warrior.

"Exactly," said Danny, eyeing the banner with renewed suspicion. "Personally, I still feel that it's mostly just awesome, because this place is going to be awesome, but it wouldn't hurt to be on our guard."
