Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

Atton pretended not to notice her scoping out the crowd until he was tired of... well, pretending not to notice her scoping out the crowd.

He ambled over with his lazy faux-teenage swagger fully in place. "So this is where I say: aren't you hot?" he said.

She could take that as a stupid double entendre if she wanted. He didn't care.

"Yeah, but if that's my biggest complaint, then it's a pretty good day," Mira said. "Unless that was a terrible pick up line. Then that's my biggest complaint today, and the day's been ruined."

"Do I look like the kind of guy who'd use a line that terrible?" Atton said.

Well, he thought like he looked like the kind of guy who didn't need to if he wanted to get laid.

"You can't judge a datapad by its cover," Mira pointed out. "But I'll officially thank you for not ruining my day."

"You're welcome, new kid," Atton drawled, 'cause that was sure to endear him to everybody. "Datapad, huh? Where are you from?"

He knew he recognized that kind of fashion from somewhere.

"A galaxy far, far away. What's it to you?" Mira asked.

"You look like some people I know back home," Atton said with a casual shrug. "Not a lot of beings from my galaxy around here. Thought I'd check."

"Ever heard of Nar Shaddaa?" Mira asked. Was it actually possible that there was someone from her galaxy here?

Yes, of course there was. She didn't yet realize how silly that internal question was.

"I spent some time out there before I showed up here, actually."

What was it the locals said? 'Bingo'?

... Atton preferred 'pure pazaak', honestly. But: figuring out where this girl was from.

"Before Revan did his thing."

"Part of what I really like about Nar Shaddaa is that I don't have to hear about that psychopath too often," Mira said, suggesting that she was not a fan of his work. "I'd appreciate it if we could keep the Nar Shaddaa spirit alive here."

"In terms of not talking about Revan. Not the murders. And theft. Kidnappings. Assorted other crime."

"Not even the bootlegging?" Atton asked. "Because that's just a rule I can't live with."

"I heard that there's a bar here that doesn't card. Why would you need to bootleg?" Mira checked.

"Because life is boring when you've only got two classes a week?" Atton tried.

"I guess everyone has their hobbies," Mira said. "I'm Mira, by the way."

"Atton Rand," Atton said casually. "I think you're the first person from my galaxy I've met around here who's... ever been to Nar Shaddaa."

Was from his time, rather. Damn, that was going to make things complicated.

"Been there. Lived there for a couple years." Old Republic math: A teenager who didn't want to be reminded of Revan and had been on Nar Shaddaa for a couple years. Why yes, she was a refugee of the previous war. "Long enough to make a place this quiet and, well, okay-smelling seem kind of weird."

"It's a better place to crash than the refugee quarter," Atton said easily. "Nobody's peeing on anything out in public here. It's been a nice change."

Of course, Atton wasn't actually a refugee, but the Sith Lord was in the details.

"I guess, but it's just not going to feel like home," Mira noted.

"Are you afraid you're going to miss all the rampant murder?" Atton asked. "Honest question."

"I'm afraid I'm going to miss collecting bounties on rampant murderers," Mira said.

"Eugh," Atton said - not unappreciatively, mind. "Bounty hunter?"

... Hopefully the Sith hadn't been too overly in your face about him.

"That's the sound I love to hear when people find out what I do," Mira said. "Does that mean I could make a few bucks turning you in to the local authorities?"

"No, but I'd like it if you people stopped turning in half my friends," Atton said smoothly, rolling his eyes. "It's like you don't have anything better to do."

"I hunt people down, get to see the looks on their face when they realize a teenage girl just beat them up, and then people give me credits for doing that. There isn't anything better to do," Mira argued.

"I could think of a few things," Atton argued. "Like grabbing drinks at the Entertainment Promenade and winning a few hands of pazaak."
