Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

"And the guy with a sparkly pink tattoo is the one to talk about weirdness." How'd he even get a tattoo to sparkle?

The Fandom tattoo artists could work magic! Possibly literally. He hadn't checked.

"Well, I got the tattoo here," Cade said, "and thought it was a good idea at the time."

He'd been a blonde princess at the time, but.

What a coincidence, Emma was always a blonde princess. Not that she was aware of this fact.

"What don't they check ID?" Emma asked, because reasons. She didn't think there were any good reasons for sparkly pink tattoos though.

"Only at the bar run by the blond vampire," Cade said. "Everything else is really easy to get into."

Emma was just going to ignore that whole 'vampire' part, she didn't care what the crazy owner of a bar she wasn't going to visit called himself. "That doesn't seem like such a great idea on an island full of teenagers."

Potentially useful while she was here, but not too smart.

"There's a lot on this island that isn't smart," Cade offered cynically. "I'm Cade."

"Emma." She'd offer you a hand, Cade, but they were full of food. "You mean like building a school on top of all those stairs?"

"That definitely doesn't help," Cade said, "especially after a night out."

Couldn't you just feel the waves of sympathy pouring off her?

"Clearly they should have built it at the bottom of the steps so you could roll down them instead."

"It comes in handy for classes, at least?" Cade offered. "What floor are you living on?"

"The fourth," Emma replied. "You?"

What, it was important to know if she was on a floor with boys who were allergic to shirts.

"Third," Cade said, "but I've been known to hike alllllll the way up the stairs on occasion. You guys have good cereal."

"Good as in tasty or healthy?" She thought she could guess, but it didn't hurt to check. Good cereal was even more important than shirt allergies.

Cade made a face. "Do I look like I'm going to eat the cereal that's full of fiber and tastes like the karking box?"

"You never know what dark and shameful secrets someone's hiding." Such as liking healthy cereal.

"Oh, if I had dark and shameful secrets," and he did, "I wouldn't bring them up at the picnic," Cade replied. "But enjoying gross cereal is just wrong."

Emma wasn't interested in prying out secrets, not when she had her own to keep hidden. "And that's exactly why it'd be a shameful secret."

"Well if you find anyone with that kind of horrible taste, tell me," Cade urged. "They should be publicly shunned."

"You'd be more likely to know than I would," Emma pointed out. "First day, remember?"

"True," Cade admitted, "but I don't really know that many people."

"Too busy getting inked to make friends?" Because Emma was one to talk on the ability to make friends front.

"Something like that," Cade said. "Most of the people here aren't really my speed."

Being law-abiding people who cared about school...

Caring about school was for people who weren't surprised to last out a full semester in the one place. "I know the feeling," Emma muttered, looking around.

"I had my own bag when I arrived," Cade said quietly. "So did that guy," he added, pointing out Sparkle.

"So we're the charity cases," Emma said with a small cynical grin, making a note of the kid Cade was pointing out. She wasn't too proud to realise people thinking she was here for the wrong reasons was better than them finding out she wasn't supposed to be here at all. "Wonder what kind of tax break we're worth."
