Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of tables and chairs scattered around the lawn for anyone who wanted to sit down once they'd had their fill of the buffet, or to recover from starting to find out what this place was all about. No one would judge the need to take a mental breather.

Some of the tables were out in the open, for those who weren't allergic to the sun, and some of the tables were in the shade, or far from the rest of the crowd for those who needed a little more space to process. Wherever people decided to rest, there was space enough for everyone.

[OOC: This is part two of the picnic, separated in an effort to save our browsers for as long as possible. Part one, to run into siblings, roommates and teachers, is over here, though teachers are also welcome in this post, of course. Because the picnic is outside, it is open to all students, teachers and townies.]

"Third," Cade said, "but I've been known to hike alllllll the way up the stairs on occasion. You guys have good cereal."
shippedtomaine: (Curiousface)

"Good as in tasty or healthy?" She thought she could guess, but it didn't hurt to check. Good cereal was even more important than shirt allergies.

Cade made a face. "Do I look like I'm going to eat the cereal that's full of fiber and tastes like the karking box?"
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"You never know what dark and shameful secrets someone's hiding." Such as liking healthy cereal.

"Oh, if I had dark and shameful secrets," and he did, "I wouldn't bring them up at the picnic," Cade replied. "But enjoying gross cereal is just wrong."
shippedtomaine: (Tooootally worth it)

Emma wasn't interested in prying out secrets, not when she had her own to keep hidden. "And that's exactly why it'd be a shameful secret."

"Well if you find anyone with that kind of horrible taste, tell me," Cade urged. "They should be publicly shunned."
shippedtomaine: (Ignoring you dad)

"You'd be more likely to know than I would," Emma pointed out. "First day, remember?"

"True," Cade admitted, "but I don't really know that many people."
shippedtomaine: (I cannot find my fucks)

"Too busy getting inked to make friends?" Because Emma was one to talk on the ability to make friends front.

"Something like that," Cade said. "Most of the people here aren't really my speed."

Being law-abiding people who cared about school...
shippedtomaine: (Get used to these puppy eyes)

Caring about school was for people who weren't surprised to last out a full semester in the one place. "I know the feeling," Emma muttered, looking around.

"I had my own bag when I arrived," Cade said quietly. "So did that guy," he added, pointing out Sparkle.
shippedtomaine: (Not impressed with your accent)

"So we're the charity cases," Emma said with a small cynical grin, making a note of the kid Cade was pointing out. She wasn't too proud to realise people thinking she was here for the wrong reasons was better than them finding out she wasn't supposed to be here at all. "Wonder what kind of tax break we're worth."

"No idea, but this school is swimming in credits," Cade said. "Wait until you see the field trips they take us on."
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"What, they don't tell you to catch a train to a museum and call it a day?"

"We were on a boat trip to Turkey in the spring," Cade said. "I tried to bring a camel home but the karking chaperones said no."
shippedtomaine: (Totes awesome for realz)

And after a whole five minutes of knowing Cade, somehow Emma could believe the bit about the camel. "Killjoys."

"That's what I told them!" Cade said. "Well, slightly more colorfully, but yes."
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"They gave me detention for it!"

Be shocked.
shippedtomaine: (Nope. No idea what you mean.)

Emma...was not shocked.

"I can't believe it."

[identity profile] makemyownway.livejournal.com 2013-07-07 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"They're really karking stoopa about rules here," Cade complained.
shippedtomaine: (I think my give-a-crap's busted)

[personal profile] shippedtomaine 2013-07-07 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Or they just want to stop you having fun." Yes, you specifically, Cade.

Re: Mingle, Mingle, Mingle [Summer 2013 - II]

[identity profile] makemyownway.livejournal.com 2013-07-07 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's my other theory," Cade replied, nodding.
