BWI Airport Lounge, Saturday Morning

Kathy should have been tired as she made her way to the lounge with the bright and glittery Fandom High banner. Even for someone who considered herself a morning person, the time she'd had to get up to catch her flight out of LAX had been obscene. Excitement had kept her awake on the plane. Excitement and energy drinks were keeping her jittering around while she waited for the shuttle.

Lots of excitement. Lots of energy drinks. Lots of jittering.

She hoped that other people would show up soon. Otherwise, she'd probably end up doing an impromptu gymnastics routine, just to burn off some of that extra energy.

[Open to teachers, students, and anyone else catching a ride to Fandom High]

Emma wasn't so much waiting for the shuttle as waiting for the security guard who'd started following her to lose interest now that she was standing by a group of other teenagers.

Well it could hardly hurt, what with the guard still watching her. "Uh, yeah. This is the right place, right?" What kind of name was Fandom anyway?

Well, that was a lot of glitter right there. "That's convenient then." If only because they'd be unlikely to notice any one particular teen passing through.
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"Emma, same," she said, purposefully avoiding the first question. Emma didn't really know how to deal with perky and bouncy, but there were worse things Kathy could've been.

Yeah, that would have had Emma fleeing for the hills, suspicious security guard or no. "I've lived here a while." Just long enough to know she didn't care for it one bit. "It's better further up north."

She'd liked that last place in Boston, so naturally she'd been moved as soon as she really started settling in.
shippedtomaine: (Nope. No idea what you mean.)

"It's more manageable, but it won't really get cold." Which suited Emma, since she didn't have nearly enough clothes to get proper layers going on.
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"Winters can be a bear, but that's still nearly six months off." Emma planned to be in a much warmer state by then.

"Hi. Don't mind that girl. Not all of us are super excited to go to summer school," Mira said. "And by 'not all of us,' I specifically mean me, and probably most other people. But I'm making assumptions."
shippedtomaine: (Nope. No idea what you mean.)

Emma shrugged. "Well, you know, camp, supposed to be fun." Or so she'd heard from people who'd actually been.

"Maybe it's just because I'm less familiar with summer camp and more familiar with boot camp, but I'm wary," Mira said. "But more accurately, I'm Mira."
shippedtomaine: (Nope. No idea what you mean.)

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

"Emma." She'd just leave last names out of it as long as possible. Lots of Emmas in the world. "I wouldn't know the difference." Since boot camp cost just as much as the regular kind.

[identity profile] notapredator.livejournal.com 2013-07-06 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
That was fine by Mira, who didn't use a last name at all anyway. "Well, the way I understand it, one involves climbing ropes for fun and the other involves climbing ropes for work. That's the main difference."
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

[personal profile] shippedtomaine 2013-07-06 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
"So no difference at all, basically."

"There are fewer people yelling at you when you do it for fun," Mira said. "And they're nicer about the yelling."
shippedtomaine: (Ignoring you dad)

[personal profile] shippedtomaine 2013-07-06 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"There's a nice way to yell at people now?" Emma'd believe that when she heard it.

Re: Waiting for the Shuttle

[identity profile] notapredator.livejournal.com 2013-07-06 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
"It can be encouraging," Mira noted. "Like 'Yay team!' and 'You can do it!'"
shippedtomaine: (Kay what the fuck just happened?)

[personal profile] shippedtomaine 2013-07-06 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
"Like cheerleaders?" Emma hadn't encountered much encouragement in its native habitat, do and don't do lists required much less effort.

[identity profile] notapredator.livejournal.com 2013-07-06 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably less formal than that," Mira considered.
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)
