BWI Airport Lounge, Saturday Morning

Kathy should have been tired as she made her way to the lounge with the bright and glittery Fandom High banner. Even for someone who considered herself a morning person, the time she'd had to get up to catch her flight out of LAX had been obscene. Excitement had kept her awake on the plane. Excitement and energy drinks were keeping her jittering around while she waited for the shuttle.

Lots of excitement. Lots of energy drinks. Lots of jittering.

She hoped that other people would show up soon. Otherwise, she'd probably end up doing an impromptu gymnastics routine, just to burn off some of that extra energy.

[Open to teachers, students, and anyone else catching a ride to Fandom High]

"Maybe it's just because I'm less familiar with summer camp and more familiar with boot camp, but I'm wary," Mira said. "But more accurately, I'm Mira."
shippedtomaine: (Nope. No idea what you mean.)

"Emma." She'd just leave last names out of it as long as possible. Lots of Emmas in the world. "I wouldn't know the difference." Since boot camp cost just as much as the regular kind.

That was fine by Mira, who didn't use a last name at all anyway. "Well, the way I understand it, one involves climbing ropes for fun and the other involves climbing ropes for work. That's the main difference."
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"So no difference at all, basically."

"There are fewer people yelling at you when you do it for fun," Mira said. "And they're nicer about the yelling."
shippedtomaine: (Ignoring you dad)

"There's a nice way to yell at people now?" Emma'd believe that when she heard it.

"It can be encouraging," Mira noted. "Like 'Yay team!' and 'You can do it!'"
shippedtomaine: (Kay what the fuck just happened?)

"Like cheerleaders?" Emma hadn't encountered much encouragement in its native habitat, do and don't do lists required much less effort.

"Probably less formal than that," Mira considered.
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"No pom-poms?"

"If we get there and there are pom poms, I'm going on the run," Mira said. "Immediately."
shippedtomaine: (Tooootally worth it)

"I'll join you," Emma said. Not least because if she actually ended up at this camp, something would have gone wrong somewhere.

"Deal. At least I'll have company in a strange, new place," Mira said.
shippedtomaine: (Welp that's taken care of.)

"Exactly," Emma said, shifting her grip on her duffel. She could actually feel her plans to unobtrusively split from the group before the shuttle left slipping away.

Well, she'd been trying to acquire the busfare out of this town, she'd just have to start at a different place now.
