The students had been told to wear their swimsuits under their clothing today and then to meet up at the Portalocity office.

"Today is going to be hot," Ben said with a smile. "You're going to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates and it's about 115 degrees already--a nice early summer morning."

Anakin grew up on Tatooine, so that kind of weather didn't impress him much. "Please be on your best behavior: the Emiratees are more liberal than many of their neighbors, but that doesn't mean they love sleeveless shirts and miniskirts," he warned. "If you're concerned about what you're wearing, we've provided pants and button-up shirts for you to change into. Other than that, have fun, don't get too lost in the souq, and we'll see you at the finish line.q

"You're fifth today," Ben said, handing him a towel. "Is that slide astral or what?"

"Beyond astral," Anakin laughed, scrubbing at his hair with the towel. (Spoiler alert: it wasn't going to improve the state of his hair, unless you counted 'making it even more of a hopeless mess' as an improvement.) "I'm thinking of trying it again and getting holos for Tahiri."

You could tell he'd really liked the slide, since he wasn't even annoyed about coming in fifth.

Ben laughed. "Do it. If you stick around after everyone's finished, Granddad's going to go down the slide too."

He tilted his head. "Which has the downside of seeing Granddad in a swimsuit..."

Anakin made a strangled sort of noise. "Now there's something I can safely say has never crossed my mind, ever."

"Think he still wears the robe?" Ben murmured.

"Do I have to think about it?" asked Anakin, with an expression that suggested he really, really hoped the answer was yes.

"Of course you do," Ben laughed.

"The only thing that makes it better is that you do too," Anakin told him with a mild scowl.

Ben grinned back. "What do you say we hang back and get traumatized equally together?"

"As long as I don't end up being late for Jaina's class," Anakin decided, "I think you have a deal."

"I'll write you a note," Ben promised. "'Dear Jaina, Sorry Anakin is late. We were wondering what our grandfather wore when he rode down a six story water slide. Here, have some holos. Love, Ben.'"

Anakin snorted. "It would be a shame if she missed out on it completely, I guess."

Boys.

"She'd probably get really upset," Ben agreed, shaking his head Very Solemnly.

"And you know what happens when she gets mad," Anakin added.

"Suffering," Ben wheezed in his best heard-it-from-his-father Yoda impression.

Anakin snickered. "Yeah, in a class that's all about hitting things, I don't want to end up being used for a demonstration."

Which would probably be more civil than any one of his sparring matches with Jacen these days, anyhow.

Well, Jacen.

"This is my punching bag, Anakin," Ben mused aloud. "Yeah, I can see that being bad."

"I could handle it." Doubtful, Anakin, this Jaina is way better than you. "It just wouldn't look very good in front of the class, would it?"

"Not really," Ben said, polite enough not to mention the ass kicking he'd receive.

So see, he was right about it not looking very good in front of everyone.

For him.

"I guess that means I better get really good holos."

"Think he's gotten all squishy yet?" Ben asked like a punk.

Ben, you jerk.

"You are the worst little cousin ever," Anakin informed him.

"I'm your only little cousin," Ben replied.

Since Allana would be his little niece...

Not that he'd ever know.

"Then you don't have any competition for being the worst, do you?"

Stop acting like you're sure you won the argument, Anakin.

"Don't make me kick you," Ben teased.
