Philosophy 201- Monday- 1st period

Anyone who knew Jaye's classes by now knew how this went. Anyone who didn't know Jaye's classes by now might realize something was up when they showed up to an actual classroom instead of the theater.

"This is your final," Jaye said, "so I want you to write down as many of the movies we've watched as you can remember- points for each you get right- and then give me an essay on what pragmatic philosopher John Dewey would say about the lineup."

No, she'd never told them who John Dewey even was before, but half of philosophy was rambling on forever and pretending you knew/cared what you were talking about- in Jaye's experience, anyway- so there was that.

Percy was...not gonna do well on this final. He didn't remember titles at all and had no idea who John Dewey was. So, this was gonna suck.

He wrote down a few descriptions of movies and then decided that John Dewey would have really liked all these movies because his wife had left him and these gave him hope of finding someone new in the cutest way possible.

And that was all he had.

Jessica started with Space Battles, then every Matthew McConaughey movie she could think of with a note that this should more or less cover it.

The Dewey part was harder. She decided to explain how everything could be easily sorted into categories, organized by said categories, numbered, and stacked in order in our nation's libraries.

Cade remembered all of the movies that had Matthew with the last name he couldn't spell and listed them off, along with a diatribe about how amazing hair didn't an actor make that went on for many, many pages.

John Dewey who?

Juliet was able to list most of the movies, though some where she wasn't totally certain she'd nailed the title ended up qualified with things like "the one where Kate Hudson has brown hair" or "the ones with the totally disgusting lizard monster."

She had no idea who John Dewey was, but she could bluff her way through a paragraph about how Dewey would have approved in the triumph of good over evil represented by these films.
