Advanced Journalism (Tuesday, February 14 - 2nd period)

Rita's classroom was very pink.

There were what appeared to be small, sparkling, soft pink insects floating near the ceiling, and pink and red streamers waving with an odd twinkling quality. There was also a small bowl of jelly beans on her desk.

"Turn in your obituaries," Rita said, looking decidedly out of patience. "Who did you write about? Why? How did you imagine they died?"

John shoves his shield up in front of his face.

"Your words of torment cannot penetrate my suit of armour," he nearly shouts in that stupid, bad British accent. "I am invincible to your machinations!"

"It's Valentine's Day. Why are you making things worse?" Rita asked, sighing. "And Ms. Gilmore, why is your dog here?"

Rory didn't say anything as Vladdie hopped out of his bag and went to sniff at John.

John smiles down at Vladdie. "Hey fella. You get around."

He turns back to Professor Skeeter and says, "Worse? Worse? I laugh in the face of worsedness-" John boggles because he thinks he just made up a word. "Valentine's Day is insignificant in the hearts of knights such as myself. Everyday is a day of battle."

"I am too tired for this," Rita said, waving her wand at him and muttering something.

John? Kind of small. And fuzzy. And yappy.

Vladdie stared at what could have passed for his twin.

[ooc: You can see Vladdie's imaginary friend if you'd like, since it's a dog thing. :) It's a cat named Steve. And feel free to mod Steve's appearance/dialogue.]

And, damn it, he's a dog.

John finds himself staring at Vladdie for a moment before going to speak...and yips loudly instead. Damn, that's shrill.

And he has the sudden urge to sniff his hindparts. Resist, resist, resist.

Rory helpfully took another picture and sent it to Aeryn with the message: "JOHN = VLADDIE'S TWIN 2DAY."

Vladdie himself looked alarmed, and began to yip excitedly.

/Friend? Big friend go away, new friend yay?/

He turned to consult the air beside him.

Chloe did her best not to laugh. At least John was an animal she easily recognized this time.

John walks up to Vladdie gingerly and nudges him with his nose.

/New friend! Hi Vladdie!/

John turns to watch the air that's Vladdie's watching and yips when he notices the cat.

/You guys know each other?/

/STEVE!/ Vladdie explained.

Steve waved in a cat-like way. /Yo./

Rory was torn, since she didn't anything non-chocolatey to offer puppy!John. So she just patted him.

/Steve? This guy's name is Steve?/

John tried to wave but ended up standing on his hind legs and batting at him. /Hey dude./

And John enjoyed the pets from Rory.

/Steve./ Vladdie was solemn. /Ball?/

Steve eyed John suspiciously. /You're weird./

And Rory stared. "Oh my god they're talking."

/Am not weird! I'm not used to being a dog, okay. Any advice?/

John panted at Rory and had no idea why he was panting.

Vladdie tilted his head. /Want snack?/ he offered, padding over to his bag.

Steve shook his head at John. /Seriously, dude? You do not want a snack. Trust me. As for advice, don't piss off people who'll turn you into a dog./

Heeding Steve's advice, John kind of shakes his head.

/Full, dude. Ate a lot earlier./

Turning to Steve, he wags his tail. /Who says I'm pissing them off? It's fun to mess with Skeeter./

/Fly?/ Vladdie inquired, hovering a little.

Steve just shook his head. /Yeah, but you're a dog. And that girl who follows us around is shoving her phone at you, taking pictures./

It was true that Rory had, in fact, just snapped a picture.

/Can't fly, buddy. Not cool like you./ John attempted to hop up but quickly landed again.

John waves a paw at Steve. /She's been taking pictures of me for the past three weeks. I'm used to it. Besides, it's nice to be remembered for something./

Vladdie did a flip to show off. /Like other friend who doesn't fly! He's friends with man who put me in pocket!/

Steve rolled his eyes. /What if you end up stuck as a dog?/

John wants to laugh but it ends up sounding like he's hacking up a hairball.

/In a pocket? Where else have you been, Vladdie?/

John scoffs, or rather, barks at Steve. /A risk I'm willing to take. C'mon, Skeeter has it coming!/

/Big dark man's pocket. MommyRory go sleep,/ Vladdie clarified, without really making anything more clear. /Pocket man has friend like me who no fly!/

/The other dog,/ Steve said helpfully. /He's talking about the little black Lab with the tall broody guy./

/Oh, Sean! Angel's dog! Yeah, Angel's awesome./ John wags his tail happily.

And then he asks Steve the burning question. /What's a cat doing being an imaginary friend to dogs?/

/Big friend nice has ball yay!/ Vladdie said gleefully.

Steve shrugged. /I have nothing better to do, and the little freak entertains me./

John barks again. /Dude, that's mean. Vladdie's awesome and he is loved by many./

Steve shrugged. /I didn't say he wasn't. But dude. He's weird, in the best way, omg./

Yes, he said 'omg.'

John just shakes his head and ends up chasing his tail because TAIL.

/Can Sean see you too?/

Steve shrugged. /I dunno. He acts like he does. Might just be humoring his friend./

Vladdie hovered over to Rita and licked her nose.

Rita glared. And then patted him, because even she liked puppies.
