Library, Wednesday, All Day

Sholeh was thrilled to be back in the library, back to classes, and, best of all, back to human shape again. She was also secretly thrilled not to have been the sister who woke up naked in front of Sparkle and Ulrik (and hadn't yet figured out a way to talk to them and explain anything), though she felt bad that Zhahar had gotten stuck with that instead.

But enough of that. The library had decided to welcome her back by sending out groups of fantasy novels to bother various other parts of the library. Each group had fourteen books at a time in them (which made it hard to get all of them when they scattered) and they kept invading the geology section, the travel section that dealt with famous mountain ranges, and the hobby section--particularly the mountaineering, hiking, and spelunking books.

Sholeh decided it was just better not to even know.

Sholeh immediately jumped to attention. "I'm Sho--of course I do!" Sorry, Constantine, but one of those questions was far more important than the other. "Is this about the time I missed because I was a fawn?" she asked, wringing her hands and following him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be an animal!"

"Bloody hell, girl, don't twitch, you're too young for me to bite," John said, shaking his head as he headed for his office. "A fawn... nine hells, this place is mad."

"Just checking... Sho, you said? I need to make sure the schedule is covered, an' don't want anyone here that hates it so badly they're setting fires or nonsense like that."

"Sholeh," she finished, stopping the hand-wringing and playing with some of the ornamentation on her bodice instead. "No, I love working here. It's the best job on the whole island!"

Because Sholeh had clearly experienced so many of those!

"You're not planning on firing me for missing shifts?"

"Can't fire you for shifts you missed when I wasn't in charge, now can I?" John asked, opening his office and tossing his coat on his chair. "'S long as you show up regularly, pet, it's fine. You want to stay on Wednesdays?"

Sholeh nodded, a relieved smile breaking through her nervousness. "Oh, yes please! And I promise that I'll try very hard not to turn into anything again. Or at least not for so long."

Because she'd clearly not been trying hard enough before.
