Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I
It was a new year, and with the new year came the new spring term, and Fandom High was all set to welcome its new students, along with those just returning from holiday trips home. It was a familiar setting for the latter bunch: there was the requisite bonfire, with tables and chairs scattered around it, as well as the buffet table with moldable warm food and drinks.
And of course, name tags and lists of Big and Little Siblings as well as roommates. Yep, the weather was okay for early January, and Fandom was all ready to celebrate the start of a new term.
[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
The most dangerous species on the island!
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Which, of course, didn't describe Jack at all.
"Sorry the heroic efforts ended in crutches, by the way."
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
That was untrue.

Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
The joy of mangling your left leg and left arm. All of your balance was suddenly and thoroughly shot.
"And I graduated from Emma's, mate. She was valedictorian that year, if I remember right. Made one hell of a speech about being strong, about being fighters. I was prom king." A beat. "There might've been something in the water that year, I'm not sure."
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
He frowned vaguely at Jono. "Magic can't heal you?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Especially since he went straight from Fandom to the Massachusetts Academy, where an older Emma was headmistress.
"I don't see why magic couldn't heal me," he added, a moment later. "I just haven't actually seen a healer since this whole mess happened. The doctors in New York did a decent job of patching me up, all things considered."
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
He let it go at that, rolling his shoulders in thought. "Anyhow, is there anything to know about teaching besides 'encourage the children not to let themselves get killed'?"
Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Or maybe he'd continue to be stubborn. Options were a beautiful thing.
"I think any other advice I could present to you would be more or less comparable to strategies for dealing with rampaging bears," he added, smirking. "Don't let them see weakness, don't turn your back on them, always keep your food out of reach..."

Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
... Not wholly because of the injuries.
Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Which reminded him he needed to check in with Jaina sometime.
Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Well, reading, and attempting to train in spite of his injuries. But one of those things was less likely to get him yelled at by various people both on the island and off.
Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Jono really wasn't certain what had possessed him to run a class at the school and a community class, on top of directing a show in the theatre and doing radio broadcasts, but, if nothing else, keeping busy would keep him from going insane.
Probably.
"I don't stagnate well," he explained.
Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
"But I know what you mean. Not to be strange about it, but I should have died -- more than once -- and I haven't. It seems like a waste not to keep myself busy."
Re: `Re: Meet Your Teachers [Spring 2013]
Which was why he kept going back to New York and getting into the sort of trouble that had ripped him up in the first place.
