Well. As it turned out, traveling across the country with a seven-foot dinosaur in tow was an experience very similar to hell on earth. Not only had Gert been checked by TSA agents roughly forty times throughout the journey, not to mention flight attendants on the plane itself, and not only had she incurred all kinds of additional pet fees (paid for by Captain America and whoever was paying him, but still), but she also had a seriously antsy ~~velociraptor~~ deionychus to deal with. Between that and the expected grouchiness from having been traveling all day, by the time Gert reached the Portalocity lounge in the airport where she was supposed to wait for the Fandom High shuttle, she was not in the best of moods.

The one good thing was that she at least didn't have very much luggage. She stuffed her single backpack under a chair and then flopped down in it, patting the seat beside her for Old Lace to follow suit. Now she just had to hope that whoever was driving this bus showed up punctually, because she was rapidly getting tired of this airport and was about ready to take a nap.

Anakin swooped in, swirly cape swirling behind him, and fixed the young delinquents (or potential delinquents--Anakin would wait at least 30 seconds to judge you) with a stare.

"Fandom High this way please," he said. "No one gets carsick, right?"

Delinquent here, potential supervillain, thank you.

Maddie shook her head out of habit, and asked, "...Is that a cape?" because she hadn't really been expecting those once she left all the superheroes behind.

There was no point in denying it.

"I prefer cloak."

"Oh." It was totally a cape. "Nice cloak," she said, managing a little smile.

"Thank you," he replied. "Do you have all of your things? I'm not turning around if you've left anything behind."

Someone might have had this argument with his daughter Juliet on the car trip to and from Connecticut over the holidays.

Gosh, thirty whole seconds! Very generous, Anakin. Gert might not wait that long.

Case in point: the cape.

"You're the bus driver?" Actually, Gert, he was the dean!

"I'm the dean," Anakin said, "who also likes driving a bus."

Really, really fast. He wasn't kidding about the carsickness thing.

That got an eyebrow-raise out of Gert. "Who likes driving a bus?"

Just curious.

"I find it relaxing," Anakin said.

The drivers around him would disagree vehemently.

"No," Bay said, side-eyeing him. "Why are you looking at us like we already did something wrong?"

She was maybe a little defensive.

"I've been teaching for a long time," Anakin said. "If you haven't done something wrong yet, you will sooner or later."

"...Huh." That was maybe too true for Bay to get worked up about. Even Daphne the Perfect did dumb things once in a while. "I can buy that. You guys get a lot of screw-ups?"

Screw-ups like me, she meant.

"I was one of them not so many years ago," Anakin said, nodding.

And one adult delinquent for the mix. Sorry, Anakin.

"Cheers, mate," John said, crushing out his smoke on the bottom of his shoe. "Least now I won't have to worry about getting lost finding you lot."

"Teacher or really old student?" Anakin checked.

"None of the above," John answered. "M' your new librarian."

"Carsick? Seriously?" Yeah, Jack was climbing onto the bus, now. Why not? It wasn't like he was expecting anyone to see him, here, and this school from the brochure had him kind of intrigued. "It'd take some pretty manic driving to get me to throw up."

Considering the flight that got him here, Anakin was going to have to put impressive effort into making Jack queasy.

Anakin looked right at him and smiled. "Well, if it gets crazy, it's always the other drivers' fault--not mine."

"Yeah, that's what they all--" Jack wasn't going to finish that sentence. He was going to just stop dead in his tracks, and stare at Anakin like perhaps he had no idea if maybe he was losing his own mind, oblivious to anyone behind him who would walk right through them if they weren't aware that he was standing there holding them up.

"You can see me?"

He was new at this.

"Sure," Anakin replied. "Should I not be able to?"

"Never have before," Karina said. "But that you ask that right away makes me wonder what your driving is like."

"My driving is fine. It's the rest of the idiots on the road that make it dangerous," Anakin proclaimed.

Emily put her best ~just an average girl~ face on and lifted a hand, and an eyebrow towards Anakin.

If she could simply be a delinquent...

"Already regretting this."

"That's the spirit," Anakin said dryly.

Emily tried a weak smile as she climbed up.

"That wouldn't happen to be the staff's uniform right?" He looked like some very dramatic kind of monk, somehow.
