Well. As it turned out, traveling across the country with a seven-foot dinosaur in tow was an experience very similar to hell on earth. Not only had Gert been checked by TSA agents roughly forty times throughout the journey, not to mention flight attendants on the plane itself, and not only had she incurred all kinds of additional pet fees (paid for by Captain America and whoever was paying him, but still), but she also had a seriously antsy ~~velociraptor~~ deionychus to deal with. Between that and the expected grouchiness from having been traveling all day, by the time Gert reached the Portalocity lounge in the airport where she was supposed to wait for the Fandom High shuttle, she was not in the best of moods.

The one good thing was that she at least didn't have very much luggage. She stuffed her single backpack under a chair and then flopped down in it, patting the seat beside her for Old Lace to follow suit. Now she just had to hope that whoever was driving this bus showed up punctually, because she was rapidly getting tired of this airport and was about ready to take a nap.

Anakin looked right at him and smiled. "Well, if it gets crazy, it's always the other drivers' fault--not mine."

"Yeah, that's what they all--" Jack wasn't going to finish that sentence. He was going to just stop dead in his tracks, and stare at Anakin like perhaps he had no idea if maybe he was losing his own mind, oblivious to anyone behind him who would walk right through them if they weren't aware that he was standing there holding them up.

"You can see me?"

He was new at this.

"Sure," Anakin replied. "Should I not be able to?"

"That's kind of the idea," Jack replied, staring. "Unless you're legendary, or maybe I'm going crazy." A beat. "Or you believe in Jack Frost?"

Which was kind of the important one. Please pardon Jack for sounding super hopeful about that one.

"Your name was on the manifest," Anakin said, "so sure, I believe in you."

More staring! It was a good day for that.

"Oh." A beat. "People usually... don't?"

He was going to just make absolutely certain that this bus driver guy knew that he was crazy, and then he was going to let the conversation drop. Probably.

"Okay," Anakin said slowly, looking confused. "I'm also kind of legendary at home, if that helps at all?"

If by legendary you meant "cautionary tale for generations."

"Oh..." Jack looked thoughtful for a moment, and then ventured, "Like Father Time?"

He wasn't actually suggesting you were old, Anakin.

Anakin's eyebrows drew together. "Hey now."

"I've never actually met him," Jack replied quickly, eyes wide. "For what it's worth, most people portray me as an old crazy guy with blue skin and icicles dripping off my nose."

Which he very clearly was not.
