FH Library, 2/14

When she gets to the library, Angela is pleased to see her gifts for the other aides have been delivered and are beautiful as expected.

She props herself on a stool behind the counter and starts listening to a playlist of the most romantic songs she knows on her iPod, because she's a sap like that.

The library is open for business.

She'd heard things about Special Collections, but she'd in no way thought even the tamest of the rumors could be true. Blinking a little and pulling on the gloves, she wonders if she shouldn't reassess that position.

"Lead on," she says at last, following Angela. "Um - is it really very dangerous in there?"

"Depends on how deep you go," Angela answered. "It looks like these are in the blue section, mostly, which is just a little odd. But further in you get some books that will bite you, and others that -- um, one once brought in this old me from an another dimension."

"So wear the gloves and be careful."

[OOC: How much of an adventure are you looking for? I need to wait for some other library staff to get back to me if you want anything major, because I don't have the SC login handy. Sorry.]

Kiki nods. "Do I have to keep the books in here while I'm looking at them, or can I bring them out into the main library? Ms. Calendar said they should be pretty safe..."

[ooc: No worries, minor oddness will do just fine :) Kiki's not up for any major challenges just yet! Thanks!]

Angela rubbed her chin. "It depends. Are they just books of spells, or are the books themselves enchanted? Because if they're just books of spells, you can read them in the main library. If they're enchanted, there are a couple desks back in SC you can read them at."

She walked as she talked, stopping in her tracks just before she opened the door to SC. "You have a library card, right?"

Kiki nods. "I think they are spells only, and the books are not enchanted. Ms. Calendar would have told me if they were."

She blinks, and looks a little embarrassed. "Um, no, actually, I don't have one."

"Okay, that's really bad," Angela said, motioning for Kiki to sit at a nearby table as she ran back to the desk to get a form. "All we need is your full name, grade and campus address. Then after I process the card we can get started."

She presented the form to Kiki and waited patiently.

Kiki pulls off the dragonskin glove so she can pick up her pen. "I'm sorry," she apologizes, rapidly filling out the card. "This is my first time in here."

She signs the line at the bottom and hands the card to Angela.

"Not a problem, I should have thought of it sooner," Angela said.

She went to type up the information and came back with a card. "Okay, now we're ready to go in." She put her own gloves back on and walked into SC, scanning the shelves for the titles on Kiki's note.

"I think your books are in the blue section, which is this row of shelves," she said, gesturing.

Quickly tugging her gloves back on, Kiki follows, glancing about the Special Collections a little uneasily.

"Thank you," Kiki smiles, nonetheless. "And yes, there's one of them."

She reaches up, a trifle hesitantly, to take the book.

The air shimmers a bit, but nothing else happens, and the book drops into Kiki's hands like a ripe plum.

"Well, that's a relief," Kiki sighs, raising her eyebrows. Bolder, she looks down the row of the shelf and starts pulling down the other titles, thankful that Ms. Calendar gave her all very nice harmless titles.

Angela watched Kiki collecting books with skeptical eyes, but her attention wandered away as it became clear Kiki was in no danger. "It looks like SC likes you," she said. "I'm going back to the desk. Shout if you need anything?"

Kiki nods. "I will, thank you," she says. "I'll be right here at this desk inside the door, and there's nothing else I need past the blue section."

She places the books on the desk with a notebook and tries to resist and urge to glance over her shoulder.

Angela retreated to the desk, keeping one eye and ear on Kiki.
