Anakin wandered into the library about halfway through second period. He waved at Parker and Angela and then walked over to Rory.

"Hi," he said, smiling.

"Hey, you," Rory said, returning the smile and checking her watch. "It's early."

"Couldn't sleep," he said, shrugging. "Bad dreams. Figured I'd find someplace quiet to work on my ACJ essay."

"Oh," Rory said simply. "What are you going to write on?"

"Justice?" Anakin smiled. "I have a few ideas. Want to get the homework I actually want to do out the way." He wrinkled his nose and pulled a camera from one of the pockets of his robe. "I have an assignment for Professor Skeeter, too, and I have no idea what she'd consider an interesting thing to take a picture of. I'd rather not have another assignment set on fire if I can avoid it."

Rory raised an eyebrow. "Something interesting? You could take a picture of Vladdie playing with his imaginary friend, since my puppy is now apparently delusional. That's kind of interesting."

"That could work," Anakin said, nodding. "Are you sure it's not a piece of dust that he's finding so fascinating?"

"See, I thought that. But he's totally carrying on little conversations with it," Rory said, shaking her head. "And Sean was talking to it, too."

Anakin grinned. "Okay, this I have to see." He wrinkled up his forehead in thought. "But I have Tactics of War until pretty late tonight. Maybe I can stop by tomorrow night instead?"

Yeah, he thought he was being slick.

"Tomorrow's...oh. Yeah, that might work. I mean, I suppose I can cancel my hot date that I have lined up," Rory said thoughtfully, clearly trying not to laugh.

"I'd appreciate it," Anakin said, biting his lower lip to hold back a smile. "I'd hate to not have my homework done."

"Nothing more tragic, really," Rory agreed. "You know how I am about school."

"I knew you'd get it. Plus there's the bonus of giving Professor Skeeter a photograph that she probably won't understand."

He made a face. "I hope it doesn't give her any ideas about fun things to turn John into."

Rory grinned. "Well, I'll get to see it, in any case. Did I show you the pictures of John as a teeny little elephant? And as a meerkat?"

"You didn't," Anakin said, grinning back. "Do you have them with you?"

Rory pulled out her phone, flipped it open, and called up the picture of elephant!John.

"There's one. Press the button that has an arrow pointing to the right to keep looking," she said, handing the phone to him.

Anakin snickered at the first picture, then pushed the arrow and laughed again. And again. And again.

He looked through all the pictures--twice--before handing Rory the phone back.

"Isn't he adorable? I keep feeding him candy. It's only backfired once," Rory said cheerfully.

"How did that backfire?"

"He threw up on Skeeter."

Rory's smile might have turned a bit evil.

"I think I kind of love you for that," Anakin said, grinning back. "You have any photos of that?"

Rory? Blushing and grinning like an idiot.

"I don't," she said apologetically. "He also peed on her as a meerkat. Also something I did not photograph, unfortunately."

Anakin cheeks were a little red as well, but he was trying to ~~be sneaky~~ be casual. "John's got some problems," he said, shaking his head.

"Well, considering he was first pretending to be British, and then her son?" Rory said, shrugging helplessly.

Anakin smiled. "Okay, a lot of problems."
