Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

Jackson got to the gym early. He took his mission of establishing a sports team in Fandom pretty seriously, see. That involved making something of an effort, and showing up early to check out the competition (yes, he viewed the other clubs as competition, deal with it) was the least he could do.

He grabbed a copy of the club schedule for himself before he went to set up his table.

Well.

Liara had proposed some kind of scientific club to the school, and apparently she had not been the only one, and... well.

Here she was, looking fidgety. She hadn't realized recruitment would be partly her responsibility.

"You're doing fine," Evan offered, after yet another dash from the Junior Achievers table back to this one. "All we've really got to do is be around in case anyone has any questions, you know? And look pleasant and approachable, and I think you've got that part figured out already."

Hi, Liara! Not a bad time to actually meet one of the other people running this club with you, right?

It was! It was a very nice time.

"I... thank you?" Liara said, momentarily taken aback by the fact that someone was talking to her at all. "You are one of the other representatives, aren't you?"

That seemed like the safest question.

It was a very good question, and Evan gave her a little smile, holding out his arm for a handshake.

"I am! I'm Evan," he offered. "Sorry I'm kind of running back and forth today, though. I'm kind of running two clubs this semester, somehow."

How had he thought this would be a good idea? It involved him getting out! And doing things! With people! Twice a week!!

Topher did notice the fidgeting, but it was more out of desire to talk to the blue girl than any desire to actually comfort her when he stuck his open bag of chips in her direction.

"Chip?"

...Also he was wondering what blue girls ate. It was a very loaded offer, you see.

Anything that was based in levo-amino acids! So, you know. Everything he ate.

"...Thank you?" Liara said, eyeballing the bag of chips for a few moments before reaching in to take one (and just one).

That was polite, right?

"Hmm," Topher said, eyeing her, which was much less polite. Oh well. He could tone down the scrutiny for a bit. "I'm Topher Brink."

"Is there anything you need members to do before the meeting?" Victor asked, because Evan was running back and forth and Topher was ... Topher. "I could run off copies for you or whatever."

Startled again, but she knew this one, so Liara smiled tentatively at him. "I am not entirely sure," she admitted. "We should probably locate scientific equipment... but the class should have that, shouldn't it?"

"Sore, probably," Victor decided, after a second. "I've never been in the labs here, but they never seem to have a problem finding money for stuff."

Evan was here! Well. He was halfway here. He had two tables to divide his time between, so he was kind of running back and forth between this table and Junior Achievers, wondering how in the world he'd gotten so ambitious this semester.

... So, so ambitious. Aaaah.

After Evan had moved around for the fifth or sixth time, Topher did have a query. "Dude, why all the running? There's only like four other things to see."

"I know," Evan replied, fidgeting a little, "but I'm running that club, too."

He pointed over at the Junior Achievers table.

"I just don't want to miss anything important, you know? So... I kind of feel like I need to be all over right now."

Topher settled happily at the Science Club table with a bag of chips and a game on his phone, but he was only half-paying attention to that last one. Because he wanted to appear accessible, you see.

Privately, he was pretty pleased with the fact that they got the blue girl and the lip guy for this thing. He hadn't even planned that!

Most diverse science club ever.

"Dude, there's a science club?" Victor sounded enthusiastic as he wandered over, hands in his pockets.

He wasn't a scientist as much as an engineer, but anything where he got to blow things up and play with stuff in a lab consequence-free had a certain appeal.

"Now there is!" Topher confirmed, abandoning his phone in favor of geeking out a little. "Which, okay, yes, this term we do have like three science classes being offered, so I guess technically it's less necessary now than it's been for a while? But this semester is the first time I thought to run one. So."

Olive might have been purposely aiming rubber bands at the back of Topher's head, from her vantage point.

If caught, she would make herself very, very busy with her paperwork. So much paperwork, really. And a pile of rubber bands. But mostly paperwork.

It wasn't until the third one hit him that Topher actually yelped "Ow!" and turned around to see what was going on, rubbing the back of his head.

And then he narrowed his eyes at Olive super-suspiciously before turning back to the game on his phone. SOMEHOW HE FELT LIKE HE WAS BEING BULLIED HERE.
