Philosophy 102- Monday- 1st period- Class #3

"And it's Monday again," Jaye greeted the class once everyone had found their seats in the theater. "And it looks like everyone has their right parts back. Dammit."

She hated missing this stuff, and who could blame her?

"Anyway, we're watching a cinematic classic called Bigfoot this week, starring that guy from that show in the 70's, and that other guy from that show in the 70's. It'll be horrible, but hey, it's probably not the worst thing to happen to you in recent memory, right?" Bright side to everything.

Jim kind of missed being a girl but if he was honest, he was glad to be back in a body that he was familiar with. What he wasn't glad about was how stupid this movie was. Everything looked so faked and staged.

At least it was laughably bad, though. Jim wondered how much these guys got paid and hoped it wasn't much.

Olive threw a note at him, landing it neatly on his desk. It was a miracle considering that she had bad aim and also it was an irregularly-folded sort of thing.

You look different.
pursuedthestars: ([neu] think on that)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You noticed! That means you get an extra special reward for the day!

Jim scrawled that down and flipped it back to her.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
YAYYYYY WHAT DO I WIN????

Olive drew a little stick figure with her hands up in excitement, and threw it back at him.
pursuedthestars: ([neu] lean)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
He'd figured she'd get that excited if he promised a reward. It still made him chuckle and he had to think about what sort of prize she'd get.

I dunno, what do you want? A picture of me framed to set by your bed?

When he tossed that back to her, he was already laughing because he wasn't serious at all.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh gosh, Jim, I'd just never get to sleep if I had that. I'd lay awake all night looking at your beautiful face.

Olive's expression when she tossed that back on his desk probably spoke for itself.

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim frowned at her so very sadly when he read that note before sighing and shaking his head.

Fine, be that way. No pictures of me for you. What kinda prize do you want anyway? Are you someone who just wants a good ole pat on the back or something else?

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Olive smiled sweetly at him before writing her reply.

I'd rather have like, a trophy. Or a medal! Or a batch of homemade cookies!

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim made a face at her for that last suggestion.

What about me screams I CAN MAKE COOKIES at you?

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Your nurturing personality, obviously.

OBVIOUSLY, JIM.

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
You know so little about me. If I could capture a sigh in this note, I would. You should make more of an effort to find out about the real me.

Jim barely knew who the real him was so he covered it with layers upon layers of stuff he did know.

What about a certificate or something?

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I have heard tell of your great artistic ability. If you make me a certificate, I GUESS that would be okay.

Olive was a giver.
pursuedthestars: ([neu] distance)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, she was totally generous and thoughtful. Jim rolled his eyes playfully and went to work on drawing this...certificate. He used the memories he had of other certificates and made a crude little seal with JIM KIRK SEAL OF APPROVAL in the center and a weird fish thing below it.

No idea why.

The certificate read: This certificate is presented to OLIVE in recognition of her EXCELLENT OBSERVATIONAL SKILLS and her VERY SOUND DEDUCTIVE REASONING. For this honor, she is reward Jim Kirk's highest honor: HIS SEAL OF APPROVAL.

And then he drew a few more fish underneath it, a picture of a stick figure with wavy hair (that was supposed to be Olive), some fireworks and then he signed his name before passing it her way.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Olive made a big show of holding the certificate out at arm's length and admiring it, clutching a hand to her chest as she beamed over at him.

I am so putting this on my wall. Even if it's not cookies, it's still awesome. I FEEL VERY SPECIAL NOW, JAMES, THANK YOU.

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim took a little bow, pleased with himself.

You're gonna have to keep hoping for cookies from me because it's probably not gonna happen. I can maybe manage cereal for you or something.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Cookies are easy. You're just not trying.

Olive shook her head at him, obviously So Disappointed.
pursuedthestars: ([hap] awesome)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah? Prove it.

Because cookies were not easy. Not to him, at least.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
You're just trying to trick me into making you cookies.

Your ruse was TRANSPARENT, JAMES. LIKE GLASS.
pursuedthestars: ([hap] glad to be here)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No one said anything about making me cookies. You make so many assumptions about me, Egg. It's honestly making me a little sad.

And he drew a sad face and one single solitary tear.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You seem really torn up. How can I make it up to you?

So help him if he said 'make me cookies.'
pursuedthestars: ([neu] strategy)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Make me cookies.

See, he'd written that and then scratched it out so he was safe from whatever wrath she might bring forth.

Hey, you're the one who said cookies are easy! You should know how to back that statement up!

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I can. Doesn't mean I will for just anyone. Cookies are special, Jimmy.

OH YES. She went there.
pursuedthestars: ([hap] glee)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
And I'm not special????

He drew another sad face with even more tears this time.

After all I've done for you!

Yeah! All that stuff!

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
All that you've done for me?

Olive drew a mustache on that sad face.
pursuedthestars: ([hap] all smiles)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you see it my way.

He was ignoring that question mark. And he was also drawing some sideburns and a hat on the sad face.

Re: Watch the movie

Such sweet words from such a sweet, sweet girl.

Jim chuckled and drew an eyepatch on this now really strange looking sad face.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm adorable, yes.

And there was a very happy little wavy-haired stick figure now, a bunch of dots speckling her face. Freckles, obviously.
pursuedthestars: ([neu] distance)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
That supposed to be you?

Jim guessed it was, of course. He wasn't an idiot. Very striking resemblance.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have a red pen for my hair. I thought it looked just like me!!!

Not especially. Well, for a stick figure.
pursuedthestars: ([hap] good times)

Re: Watch the movie

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim put an umbrella in one of stick figure Olive's hands because he couldn't think of anything else to draw.

I think you're a little more curvy than that. Stick figure you would probably put an eye out.

Re: Watch the movie

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Olive slanted a look his way, then drew some raindrops so at least the umbrella would make sense.

Clearly you have never been in contact with my elbows. They are dagger-like, James.

Re: Watch the movie

Petra had spent the entire weekend hiding in her room thanks to Toby's heads up, and had apparently tried to make up for her neurosis by getting extra dolled up for today's class, even if it was first period.

She sort of frowned when Jaye made that comment about all of them having their right parts, because no, some of them didn't, ever, and her frown intensified when she followed that up with 'dammit.' And then she just sort of slunk down in her seat and tried to hide as best a tall girl in a cute dress could for the rest of class.

Re: Essays

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-09-10 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Jim really had no idea what a Partridge and a Brady had to do with anything so he just drew Jaye another picture of a very, very hair Bigfoot stomping some innocent people.

Bigfoot kills people. Just leave him alone. Go get a dog if you really want a furry pet.

Re: Essays

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-10 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Olive wrote about how all of us, in our own way, were Bigfoot -- isolated, alone, and hunted by nosy photographers.

It was more of a stretch than usual, yes.

Re: Essays

[identity profile] iwishiwasbig.livejournal.com 2012-09-11 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
Dave wrote an essay about how fame - like glimpses of bigfoot, the yeti, the skunk ape, or whatever you wanted to call it - was varied but fleeting. Also, if you ever truly arrived at it, it could crush your head between its giant hands, so that was something to be careful of.
