Drama! Thursday, Period Four

Once again, class was meeting in the drama room. And once again, they were going to be expected to sit in a circle on the floor. Aside from the area where the students were seated, the rest of the classroom contained a variety of moddable objects scattered about the floor- ranging in size from shoes to chairs.

"So now that we've spent the time getting to know each other a little bit, we can truly get started!" Thor said enthusiastically. "According to the research I have done," yes, Thor was capable of research.

... If by research one meant 'use the Wikipedia after Loki showed him how'. ANYWAY.

"Trust is an important part of any ensemble. Even if the group of people you are working with have vastly different beliefs and personalities, if you trust that your teammates will be able to work with you towards a common goal, you can accomplish anything." It was possible he was talking from personal experience there, yes. "To that end we are going to start with a game that is designed to build trust. For this activity you will need to find a partner." No, they weren't doing trust falls. That was just silly. Once the students had paired up with a group of three if needed depending on how many ping in to play out the activity, he continued: "One of you will close your eyes, and the other shall act as a guide, telling you where to walk. You must be very careful not to bump in to other pairs... or to step on any of the objects on the floor. After a few minutes, I will ask you to switch, and the leader shall become the led."

Once they'd all had sufficient time to complete the activity, Thor bid them to return to the circle. "So: what was that like, to give control over to someone else? Did anyone find that their steps became more confident as you were reassured that the person leading you around would do a proper job?"

In the final minutes before dismissal, Thor addressed the class once more. "In our first meeting, I mentioned my desire to put together a show that you all will perform in. I understand that the end of the semester coincides with a popular Midgardian holiday that often includes dramatic performances as part of the celebration. Perhaps this is something you would like to do, or perhaps not! The content of the show shall largely be decided by you as a class- the goal is to showcase some of the things you will have learned during your time with me, and how you do that is up to you. I am asking you to take some time during the next week to come up with some ideas, and then we can share them next week!"

If needed, there can be a group of three.

George thought (or hoped) he would do fairly well at this. If he concentrated hard enough, he would likely be able to sense where things were anyway.

Anyway, it felt like it might be cheating.

Perhaps he should see how good and trustworthy his partner turned out to be.

George was drawn out of his pondering, and smiled brightly at the girl who had spoken. "That would be wonderful," he told her, not quite resisting the urge to nod a sort of half-bow. "I'm George."

Sparkle... didn't look particularly like he was raring to get at this one. He had trust issues, and anyone in the class with a sense of self-preservation would probably be smart to have the same when pairing off with him.

Still, he looked around for a partner, arms crossed over his chest. He wanted to be in this class, he'd stumble his way through this assignment.

[I'll be at work today, so expect a drizzle of pings to trickle back in an approaching-slow sort of way until I get home.]

Guess who was not also super-pumped to be trusting anyone in this class? Right here. Riiiight here.

Cassidy let herself relax and then looked around for a partner.

Sigh. Alec wasn't really one for getting to know and trust new people, you know.

Still, he made an effort to look around, hoping he'd run into someone who didn't seem like a terrible choice for this activity. Whatever that meant.

Hanna was not the most trusting of people. She had a lot of reasons for that. This activity seemed amusing enough, though.

Arietty looked up and around, and found that she happened to be near someone who looked like she needed a partner. "Um," she called. "Hello? Would you like to pair up?"
