Combat- Tuesday- 2nd period- Class #1

Today was probably the only day the class was going to meet in an actual classroom unless Jaina somehow got lazy enough for a movie day. ...She would probably not do that.

"Hey, guys," she greeted them from where she was sitting on the edge of her desk. It was probably the only time she'd get to do that in this classroom, too. "This is Combat, so if you're not supposed to be here, escape now. For everyone who's supposed to be here, my name is Jaina Solo, and we can be on a first name basis here. I know too many students for it not to be.

"I'm from another galaxy, a Jedi Knight with military training, and I'm good at fighting. Really good," she went on, without a hint of modesty, because well, it was true. "I'm betting a lot of you are, too. Some of you might even know more than me in some areas, and in others I'll completely surpass you. Learning is a process, and you're never really done with it. So in this class you're going to learn some skills, whether you've been doing this for years or have never thrown a punch in your life. Some of it will be hand-to-hand, some will be with weapons, some things you'll have seen and others you won't have any idea what it even is. We'll be starting that next week. This week, we're doing introductions. Yes, I know you'll be sick of them by Friday, but it's how I'm going to figure out where we are as a class. I want to hear your name, where you're from, what kind of experience you have, and if there's anything you want to learn in particular, say so." She pointed at someone at random. "Let's start with you."

First class with his grandfather, now class with his (much) older sister. Yes, he'd gone to Uncle Luke's academy for years and was apprenticed to Luke now, but even by Anakin's standards this was a little weird.

He did, at least, look relieved that he was more likely to do things in this class than in the last one.

If Jessica really wanted to keep her secret identity, she probably shouldn't have taken a class on combat. On the other hand, man it would be helpful to actually learn how to fight like a badass. It seemed like this class would help with that.

"I'm Cassie Blake and I from New Salem, Massachusetts," she said shyly. "I don't have very much fighting experience, but I need to get some before I graduate. I did take two classes with Kennedy over the summer so I did pick up a few skills." She paused. "As for what I want to learn? I want to learn to be able to at least hold my own in a fight when attacked and maybe not get hurt before I can help someone else."

Or, you know, learning to fight witchunters to show them they should never try to use a branding iron on her ever again.

"I'm Luke Castellan and I'm from Connecticut." Yeah he hadn't lived there since he was nine but that always seemed like the best answer to go with. "And, um, this is gonna sound like bragging but, whatever, back home said I was the best swordsman in the last 300 years. And I guess I want to learn more hand-to-hand stuff 'cause usually I just stick with punching people in the face."

"Shane Gooseman and currently I'm from Western Australia," Goose said when it was his turn, "I'm pretty good at fighting, I've spent most of my life being trained in combat by the military," at least that was part of the truth, he was leaving out the bit about being a genetically engineered super soldier.

If Anakin were more of a smartass, he might have stood up and asked if Jaina had gotten hit on the head and forgotten who he was, but being trained by Aunt Mara and Uncle Luke meant that he understood that as long as they were in the classroom she was his teacher.

"Anakin. Solo," he added with a little emphasis, for the benefit of the rest of the class -- and out of a habitual need to underscore that he wasn't Anakin Skywalker, though that was a more selfish motivation. "From Coruscant, and I'm a Jedi Knight. I'm up for learning anything that will help me be a better one."

"As for experience, my mother started training me in knives before I could walk. I can use swords and Eyrien sticks as well, and poisons, but I prefer my knives. I'll learn anything you can teach me."

"I'm Billy Kaplan, I'm from New York City, and I'm not really experienced with non-magical fighting," he said. "I'm really good at defending myself and getting away, but in actual hand-to-hand fighting I'll probably get my butt handed to me every time."
