All Across the Island, Sunday Morning through Afternoon

The time for a final strike had finally arrived. The prisoners of detention had been freed, powers and abilities had been returned, and all that remained was Umbridge, and her still-faithful Loyalists.

It was time to pick a side, and bring Umbridge's reign to an end.

"I'd really rather you didn't," Zayne said. "Really, I'd prefer if nothing got broken for either of us."

That didn't seem likely, though, did it?

Not really, no.

Tahiri didn't look like she was buying that somehow. "Maybe you should have thought of that before you decided to join in the escape," she said, and reached into the Force to send a trashcan and its contents flying toward him.

Zayne held his hand out to knock the can down with the Force. Some paper got through, but that wasn't a concern. Also, this place had gotten lax about recycling, which was a small issue at the moment, but an issue nonetheless.

"Sorry. I'm not a fan of being falsely imprisoned," he said. "And I'm not about to work for a crazed dictator like you do."

"Khapet," Tahiri snapped, springing toward him. "Everything had rules. Everything made sense until you all broke free."

No one ever said she was the most stable in this universe.

Zayne stepped to the side and swung his branch at her legs, slightly clumsily. "The rules were terrible. Going to jail for not spying on classmates? That's crazy."

Tahiri had to adjust her footing to avoid the branch, and ended up slightly off-balance as a result. "It's necessary," she insisted, swinging a backhanded blow at him. "Deceit is an everyday part of life. It just is, and we should be on guard for it. Some of you are just too blind to understand that."

Seeing Tahiri off-balance at all, Zayne followed up by giving a quick Force push. "I'm pretty sure most people here could be happy just being kind and helping each other. I'm happier right now than I've been in years. Maybe you should give it a shot?"

Tahiri stumbled and careened into the wall, but Force-shoved herself away to lash out at him with a roundhouse kick. "That never lasts. No matter how nice it might sound."

That sent Zayne crashing to the ground. Ow. "It worked fine for me until somebody put me in detention," he said, starting to push himself up. "And it helped me survive in there for years. So I'm giving it a chance long-term."

You and your persistent optimism, Zayne.

"You're just setting yourself up for disappointment," Tahiri told him, trying to kick at him again.

So obviously, optimism was not her forte.

Zayne rolled away from the kick and tried to scramble back to his feet as he lashed out wildly with his branch to make sure he had some room. "Maybe. But if I am disappointed, I have friends who will help me with it."

"Maybe that's what you need. I mean, we don't have to have this fight. I don't even know you. I'm Zayne."
