Umbridge High School Building, Saturday Evening

There were some clouds hanging around the spires of Umbridge High School, but not enough; there was an overlaying sense that there shouldn't be as much sunlight shining down on it as there was.

It was quiet. Kind of. There was tension in the air, a wound-up strung-up thing that ensnared the school. Somehow it seemed as if even the birds didn't want to touch down on the building itself, and the gates seemed to fold into themselves, even if they weren't quite shut.

And all that on a weekend, too.

That was...different. But effective. Isabel looked around the room, searching for familiar faces, all the while horrified by what she saw.

Dinah's smile was blinding. Even over tear-tracks that she hadn't wiped away from last night. "Great entrance."

"It's a going to be a great exit." She didn't realize the Hulk had other plans. "You ready to get out of here?" Isabel asked.

"So ready." Dinah's face settled into grimness. "If we get out of here, do our powers come back, you think?"

"Mine were working just fine outside, so hopefully?" Because that would increase their odds in a pretty substantial way.

"I've been dreaming of this." Dinah took a breath. "And I have a new power that I barely got to use before they threw me in here. Should be fun to see if it can take down some walls."

"Have fun storming out of the castle," Isabel quipped as she shot quick glances around the room trying to take everything in. "Just make sure not to take out a wall that'll bring the whole place down on us."

"I've never been happier to see someone," Jack said, flashing a quick grin. "I'm fine so far. You should get the unwell and the students out first."

She flashed Jack an answering grin, relived to see one friend in a relatively okay state. "We're getting everyone out," Isabel said firmly. "So get ready to move. Because you know they're not going to let us just waltz out of here."

"I suppose not," Jack allowed, with a slightly anxious glance to the door. "Probably not even if we say please."

"Yeah, I don't think that particular magic word is going to work in this case. We'll just have to knock heads together. Unless it's one of the Madri," she pointed out. "Then you just wind up with more the annoying bastards."

"And you haven't been locked up with him," Jack pointed out.

Then, more softly: "Do you know who Marie is? He keeps calling Sookie that, since...."

Well. Since.

Poor Jamie. The Summer of the Stickbugs seemed so long ago.

"She was a student here once. They dated for a while. I don't know what happened after she left."

But given his reaction to Sookie, Isabel wondered.

"If he gets his head on straight, I'll ask," Jack said, satisfied by that explanation. "Don't think this is quite the time, somehow."

"Nope. Right now the plan is to get you guys out. Then deal with Umbridge." She was looking forward to that part. "Questions can wait for the victory party."

Here was a familiar face who was looking on in a bit of shock and then she smiled slightly.

"Isabel?"

There was the face she was looking for. Isabel smiled, "Hey Phoebe. Ready to get out of here?"

Isabel would find herself with an armful of tiny and overly clingy empath.

"Really? All of us? You guys can get all of us out?" She looked up at her friend, tears in her eyes. "I want out, but if you have to pick, there are so many more in here that need help more than me."

Yeah, right, Phoebe. Isabel wasn't blind.

"Everyone's getting out," Isabel promised. "But you're my special project. there is a very cranky demon waiting for you out there. If I don't turn up with you he'll probably take the island down."

"Cole," Phoebe whispered. She looked at Isabel, the other woman probably knowing that mentioning Cole was the only way to get Phoebe to stop focusing on the others. "We don't want him to do that."

Well, actually, at this point, Phoebe wouldn't mind, but she didn't want Isabel to know she was feeling hate and destruction right now.

Please, Isabel was feeling the same. She had five years worth of issues to work out.

"He's waiting for you. So how about we get going? Are you going to be able to walk? Or should I get someone else to help us?"

"He's safe, he's really ok?" Phoebe swallowed, trying to stop the flow of questions she had in her mind. "I can walk." Slowly and painfully, but she could. If she was truly leaving this place, she would do it under her own power.

Isabel would be there to help her, however long it took. Although hopefully not that long because there were some scary people running around the castle she'd rather avoid.

"He's fine," Isabel promised, "Cranky and pissed but I think his attitude will improve once he sees you. It's been too long."

She nodded, tears blurring her vision again.

"Please take me to him? I know I should help fight ... but five years."

Isabel nodded and was all set to start helping Phoebe away when she suddenly distracted (http://fandomhigh.livejournal.com/3176427.html?thread=193465067#t193465067). One hand came up to shield while the other shoved Phoebe out of danger.
