Detention, Depths of the Castle, Thursday

Another beautiful day had begun in Fandom, not that anyone in detention would have noticed. The lack of sunlight, the pleasant sound of Umbridge's voice, and the slightly stale smell of breakfast were all important aspects to making every day in detention routine! Surely everyone knew that surprises were no fun.

Look, the week was half over already and no one had been taken out and killed so far. That had to count for something, right?

Phoebe was trying to deal with all of the elevated emotions swirling around her in response to Raven killing Sookie. The problem was that her own emotions over it were getting in the way.

"You killed her," she whispered. "You killed her."

She was rapidly having to accept that, giving all the screaming. But still she shook her head. "I did not mean to do it!" she said.

Phoebe didn't raise her voice, but her whisper was cold and full of an anger bordering on hate.

"What did you think was going to happen, Raven? You come down here and you torture people and with Sookie you kept pushing and pushing until she had no choice but to fight and push back. People are NOT TOYS! They don't have a reset button when the games you play goes bad for them." Phoebe's fists were clenched.

"You have to obey," Raven said, hugging her knees against her chest. "I have to obey." Her eyes glowed red. "I do not want to obey. I must obey."

"You don't want to obey? That sure as hell isn't what you keep telling us when you come here, Raven." Phoebe's voice had taken on a completely even tone and if any of her family or Cole had been close right now they would have told Raven that it usually led to bad things.

"You love serving Umbridge. You love obeying her and hurting the people who were once your friends. You're a sorry fucking excuse for an empath, Raven. Empaths use the fact that they can feel other people's emotions to help them and to do good. They don't use them to try to make people into toys and play with them to see how far they can be bent before they break."

Phoebe clenched her fists at her sides, stepping closer to Raven. She wanted so much to hit Raven as hard as she could right now. Sookie had done nothing wrong and she had always been so nice and sweet to the other prisoners when she was able to. When Raven hadn't been screwing with her.

"You're nothing. You're less than nothing. That demon of mine that you were trying to hurt me with yesterday? The one you said you would make a matching set with? You just proved to all of us in here and him that you're not fit for him to walk on. When he finds out what you did here -- what I felt -- there will be no place you can hide from him and he will tear you apart."

Phoebe knew that advancing on Raven like this was a bad idea, but she was so horrified over what had happened to Sookie and so angry at Raven for the weeks upon weeks upon years of torment that she couldn't seem to control herself.

"You know nothing!" Raven snapped.

"You have no idea what you are talking about."

obey obey obey

She snarled and flung up her hand, sending a torrent of pain at Phoebe.

Phoebe had kept coming closer and without even thinking about it she raised her hand to hit Raven as hard as she could.

At the same time, Raven sent a torrent of pain at her and Phoebe yelped, stumbling backwards.

"You should leave, Raven," Phoebe hissed as she got back to her feet.

She was trying. She wanted to go and hide forget this had all happened.

"I will go when I am ready," she said. "And you will leave me be or you will taste what she did."
