Detention, Depths of the Castle, Thursday

Another beautiful day had begun in Fandom, not that anyone in detention would have noticed. The lack of sunlight, the pleasant sound of Umbridge's voice, and the slightly stale smell of breakfast were all important aspects to making every day in detention routine! Surely everyone knew that surprises were no fun.

Look, the week was half over already and no one had been taken out and killed so far. That had to count for something, right?

Dinah was not talking to herself, or singing. She was very quietly reciting Henry V, trying to remember all the speeches. A Midnight's Summer Dream would be next.

That's what she did on Thursdays. It was the routine. It kept her rational and occupied, and that was half the battle.

[Again, SP, although I should be on a bit earlier tonight.]

Dinah was really starting to wonder if Raven wasn't going to attempt to smash her down again this week. Or anyone else. Fine by her, except for how watching other people be tortured was a torture all its own.

Jonothon spent his afternoon on his feet, and pacing, today. There was an... an itch in the back of his head, pieces of a puzzle slowly being fitted back into place and some of those pieces were bits of his own broken self.

He hadn't realized until the other day just how fragmented he'd let himself become over the years. But now, with Liara's help, he was scrounging around the edges of his self for pieces that he'd never allowed into the equation, and besides that low, seething anger that had been keeping him tethered in sanity, there was something else, too.

Oh... was that was confidence felt like?

This time of day, long routine, was still not one of Jonothon's favourites. But he continued to survive it, only slipping occasionally. He hadn't been singled out yesterday, and the day before had ended on something of a positive note. Well, positive comparatively.

He was standing to face any visitors head-on today, with his arms crossed over his chest and a bored expression on what was left of his face.

Do your worst.

Stark wasn't really talking to himself. He was, very quietly, reciting prayers while he paced. He didn't think it would help. But he was sure it wouldn't hurt. And it gave him something to do. He had woken up restless, which was never a good sign.

Stark was still pacing when the visitors started arriving. Pacing and now humming softly and almost tunelessly. No crouching today. He couldn't sit still long enough to bother trying to make himself a smaller target. At least he was a moving one.

Goose had managed to make it half way through the week without anyone coming to visit him, he knew this couldn't last though and so it hadn't made him any less focused as he observed the visitors who come in.

After yesterday, Sookie had spent the night barely sleeping. Not that that was especially unusual, but she wanted to ensure that she was ready for Raven today.

There couldn't be a repeat of yesterday. There couldn't.

So she sat, still, cross-legged on the floor, and waited. She kept her mind as present as she could, willing away the temptation to retreat.

Sookie was more alert today than she'd been in weeks. She looked around the room, studying each of her fellow prisoners.

They were a powerful group. Smart, too. How had this happened to them?

She wanted to go away, to create a safe space in her head to share with Bobby, but not today. She wouldn't weaken herself again today, as much as she wanted to.

She spent her hours working against her mind, keeping herself in the present and focusing on the here and now. The coolness of the floor, the sound of the others breathing and talking, the brightness of the lights.

She was here.

Goose was not talking to himself but rather he was playing over in his mind various conversations and training exercises that he had had at Wolf Den before the incident had happened.

Wolf Den wasn't exactly a happy memory but he preferred that to the constant reminder of being locked up in detention. It at least gave him a distraction every now and then when he would let himself think of the other Supertroopers as he wondered what they were doing right at that moment.

Cassidy was still in the same place she had been when Raven left her yesterday. She was silent though, her voice gone and throat sore from screaming and then crying the rest of the night as she was trapped in the nightmare Raven created to break her down.

"Oh, man," muttered Britta, with a side-eye towards anyone who might be listening right now, "I would do anything for a cigarette right now..."

And that side-eye included a not-nearly-as-subtle-as-she-thought implication that she meant it, too. Hey, you never knew until you tried. She'd actually like a whole lot more than just a cigarette, but this was the longest she'd been sober since she was probably fourteen, and she was getting a little desperate.

Jaye was spending a lot of time frowning at her breakfast. Why couldn't they have what they had yesterday? That'd been good, at least.

(No, it hadn't.)

Do you know how horrible it is to wake up with a song stuck in your head when you were stuck in a place there was pretty much no hope of getting it out? It's pretty damn horrible, okay?

She was trying not to hum out loud, but let's just say 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall had turned into 999 Bottles of Beer on the Wall just because she knew she was going to need way more than 99 verses to keep herself occupied today.

Raven was very interested in a repeat of yesterday, well, with different results.

"How are you today, Sookie?" she said, standing over her. She glanced in Bobby's direction and then back again meaningfully.

Cassidy had never truly wanted to die before, but she did now. She was still curled up as small as she could get, but her eyes were open. However, they still didn't look like she was quite there.

Liara wasn't talking to herself either. She was finally back up on her feet, earnest eyes shining bright as she walked around detention and looked towards her fellow prisoners.

She was finally starting to learn how to discern one human from another. That was exciting.

Stannis was wondering if he was actually starting to enjoy the food here, or if that was all in his head.

Somehow, he thought it could be much worse, after all.

"You seem more alert," said Liara, the ever-observant. "I had been concerned."

"I'm angry," Sookie answered honestly, though her voice was calm as she looked up at Raven. "And how are you?"
