Detention, Depths of the Castle, Wednesday

The good news for everyone in detention was that there wasn't any sign of singing going on on the island today, so everyone could be spared from any further embarrassing admissions that they'd rather not have made.

The bad news was for everyone in detention was, well, they were all still in detention. But surely, it was getting easier to deal with over time?

K-Mart jumped anyway; she couldn't help it. She jumped at everything nowadays.

"Hi," she greeted, grateful for Tori's calming presence.

"Sorry." Tori winced slightly at the jump. She hadn't meant to startle her.

"You okay?" Yeah, she was fairly certain she could guess what the answer might be, but she felt she needed to ask anyway. Tori wouldn't be, well, Tori, if she didn't care about others.

"Not really, but..." K-Mart shrugged. "I haven't gotten tortured yet today, so that's always a good thing."

"I know the feeling," Tori replied, offering K-Mart the semblance of a smile.

She didn't like the idea of anyone in here getting tortured and she wished there was a way to keep it from happening. "Definitely a good thing, though I wish it wasn't happening at all." If she ever got out of here, Tori was going to make some people pay.

"Any day you avoid the torture is a good day around here," K-Mart said, smiling even though her voice was bitter.

If she ever got out, K-Mart might help Tori make them pay.

"Is that our unofficial slogan?" Why yes, Tori was cracking a joke. Hearing K-Mart's tone, she understood the bitterness all too well. Tori knew how hard it was -- for all of them, in this situation -- but she wasn't about to give up hope of getting out of here. Not yet.

Oh, she'd be more than happy to have K-Mart's help.

K-Mart laughed softly, a strange sound, one she hadn't made much in the past few years. "You know something? I think it just might be."
