Detention, Depths of the Castle, Wednesday

The good news for everyone in detention was that there wasn't any sign of singing going on on the island today, so everyone could be spared from any further embarrassing admissions that they'd rather not have made.

The bad news was for everyone in detention was, well, they were all still in detention. But surely, it was getting easier to deal with over time?

"There is nothing better than visiting my friends," Raven said, reaching over to skitter her fingers down Sookie's arm like a spider. "I enjoy coming here every day to talk to them. One day perhaps you will even be allowed to leave with me. So long as you promise to be good."

She kept her brain foggy, concentrating on that. Raven couldn't get in unless she let her, she couldn't....

Sookie knew that wasn't true, but she tried anyway.

"No thank you. I'm fine right here."

"Do you not want to see sunshine again, Sookie?" Raven said, ever-so-gently. "You belong in the light. Your skin is so pale now, like mine. Though I do like it. It makes us more like sisters."

Except a sister wouldn't be trying to ease her way into Sookie's mind, slowly, carefully, trying to keep herself hidden.

"We are nothing like sisters."

Sookie's internal barriers were breaking down, as they so easily did now. Flashes of emotion were available to Raven -- fear, anger, exhaustion, a slightly manic hope that this would end, and the constant, nagging worry that it wouldn't be enough to taunt just her, anymore, that someone else would be hurt to unhinge her.

The hope was delicious, but the fear, she liked that better. "Perhaps I will leave you be for now then," she said. "And play with someone else. I have not visited Bobby in awhile, after all."

"He doesn't wanna talk to you," Sookie said immediately, panic rising in her chest despite herself. "Leave him be. My mind's more fun for you, anyway, ain't it?"

"Maybe," Raven said, pretending to be indecisive. She really had no plans to ignore Bobby today, no matter what Sookie offered. "But I get bored of the same things from you every day. I want something different."

"What kind of different?" Sookie asked, breathing hard through her nose. She didn't care what she had to give her. It wouldn't be any worse than what Raven already send dancing through her mind any given day.

"Another fear, perhaps?" Raven said. It was different when they surrendered them instead of pulling them forcibly from their minds, but either tasted sweet.

"Or...I was told I do not know what love is. Show me love instead. That would be easy, would it not?"

Until she brought it all crashing down, of course. Whatever Sookie conjured for her, it would end in blood and death.

"You'll never know about love," Sookie said quietly. It wasn't a threat, or an accusation. She almost sounded sad. "Even if I showed you right now, you'd break it, because you wouldn't understand. You're like a little kid who can't have nice stuff."

"I want. To feel. Love," Raven ground out. "Show it to me. Now." Pain and fear were delightful, but now that she had her mind set stubbornly on something else. She'd played at sending Jono kisses the other day, but if she could hit him with real love, well, that might just finally break him.

"No." Sookie's voice shook with the force of the word. "You can have anything else you want. Not that."

"Then I will just go play with Bobby instead," Raven sighed. "I am certain he will be much more accommodating than you."

Sookie started shaking her head, eyes wide. "No no no, no no, please. Just...take whatever you want from me. Don't hurt him."

"Too laaaaaaaaaaate," Raven giggled. "I gave you your chance. You refused to cooperate. Perhaps now you will be more reasonable in the future."
