Detention, Depths of the Castle, Wednesday

The good news for everyone in detention was that there wasn't any sign of singing going on on the island today, so everyone could be spared from any further embarrassing admissions that they'd rather not have made.

The bad news was for everyone in detention was, well, they were all still in detention. But surely, it was getting easier to deal with over time?

Bruce rolled his head up to look at Raven, a glazed over expression on his face.

"Please, stop," he said dreamily. "I don't know how much longer I can take this."

"But I have to make sure you behave," Raven said, still smiling. "Headmistress Umbridge says so. Do not be sad...well, upon a second thought, yes, perhaps you should be today."

She whisked away the lingering euphoria she'd made him feel the day before. In its place she forced a crippling sorrow. It wasn't difficult at all; she had plenty to draw from from the people around them.

And in a matter of seconds Bruce's expression changed as he crumpled over on the floor and whimpered like someone had kicked him in the gut.

"It doesn't have to be this way," he pleaded/whimpered. "Just let me go. I'll leave and won't come back."

"You say that now, but Headmistress Umbridge does not believe you," Raven said with a sigh. "So until she changes her mind, you must be controlled. Perhaps tomorrow I will make you happy again. That will be better, will it not?"

"No," Bruce grunted back with tones fatigue and despair coming out in his voice. "Because it isn't me. It's you. It'll never be right."

"Shhhhhhhh," Raven said. "It is real enough. Now just lie back and...try not to cry." She giggled madly.
