Detention, Depths of the Castle, Tuesday

Another bright, shining, and pink day had begun for the ~~prisoners~~ guests being held in detention, and while the morning started off the same as the day before, there was a strange sort of feeling in the air once people began waking up. A kind of... musical feeling, in fact.

Umbridge might have taken over the island, but the island still had a mind of her own, thank you very much.

When Cassidy saw her come through the doors, she couldn't help the whimper that passed through her lips.

Maybe if she curled up really small, Elle would think she wasn't here...

Elle appreciated the effort that went into hiding from her -- she always appreciated a good effort, even if it didn't work.

Her idea of a reward was starting off with a short, light shock when she found Cassidy.

Cassidy yelped softly, not wanting to let Elle hear her react so soon.

Elle just pouted and shocked Cassidy harder. She hated when her gifts weren't appreciated!

Again, Cassidy shook her head, clenching her jaw to keep any sounds from escaping her mouth. It would have been a good idea not to glare at Elle while she was doing so, though,

Oh, that ungrateful little brat! Elle followed a shock up by a sharp backhand across the face. She took such good care of her favorite almost pet and this was the thanks she got?!

Cassidy had been expecting some kind of attack, but the physical blow caused her head to hit the wall and she did something unwise.

She dove at Elle to try to take her to the ground.

Elle hadn't been expecting that, so the dive really did take her down. She rolled them quickly so she was on top of Cassidy, placing her hands on either side of Cassidy's face and running a current through her.

Finally, Cassidy let out a sharp whimper. It wasn't a scream, but they were getting closer.

Oh, good. That was a happy-making sound to Elle. She liked that sound.

She intensified the current a little more, wanting desperately to pull a scream out of Cassidy. God, she loved when Cassidy screamed.

Cassidy bit her lip so hard that blood trickled down her chin, but she still didn't scream. However, the keening sound she was making in her throat was a lot closer to a scream than the whimper had been.

Elle giggled and leaned down to lick the blood away. (Needless to say, sanity was not in the building today.) She patted Cassidy's cheek almost affectionately as she straightened up, still sending current coursing through Cassidy with her other hand.

Cassidy tried to turn her face away from Elle even as her body stiffened from the pain Elle was sending through her.

"Evil," she managed. "Tainted bastard-spawned bitch."

"Don't insult my family!" Elle yelled, pulling her hand back but only so she could punch Cassidy in the face.

She didn't like her pet very much at the moment.

Cassidy smiled at her, her eyes bright. However, instead of having a mocking comment to her tormentor, she found herself singing.

"Down beneath these tangled roots
There lies a truth not as clean
As it seems up here

And in the outbuildings
Unattended and austere I fear
I'll become unclear
Oh I fear
I'll become unclear..."

"I have looked all over the place,
But you have got my favorite face.
Your eyelashes sparkle like gilded grass
and your lips are sweet and slippery"

Elle cooed the words softly, one hand now stroking Cassidy's face. She really was Elle's favorite pet and plaything.

Cassidy tried to pull away from Elle, even as she was forced to continue singing.

"I was all out of fight
Then the dark came down but no cavalry arrived
And those ne'er-do-wells love a sacrifice
But you don't scare me..."

Which was probably a lie, but the island seemed to be amusing herself with them today.

"Sleep, don't weep, my sweet love
Your face is all wet 'cause our days were rough
So do what you must do to fill that hole"

She didn't mind if Cassidy screamed and cried and pulled away. It was just what Cassidy needed to do to survive. Elle could understand that.

Cassidy tried to scramble further away from Elle. She always tried this and it always failed, but she couldn't not try to fight back.

"Underneath these over hangs there lives a fear not as clear
As it seems up here
And rivulets at great length
Form tiny landscapes over years
I'll become unclear
Oh I fear
I'll become unclear..."

"Leave me out with the waste
This is not what I do
It's the wrong kind of place
To be thinking of you"

Elle knew it was wrong to like Cassidy, to more than like her, but she still did. Maybe that was why she spent so much time with Cassidy in particular.

"Don't pull away," she whispered, grateful for real words and not song.

Cassidy's forehead wrinkled because Elle's command was nicer than she usually said them. For some reason, that made her even more frightened than she had been.

"And some people believe that they're the only ones
That have a stirring in their hearts that they can't name
But not all hearts will fall apart or come undone
But it's that stirring in our hearts that we can't name
That keeps us all the same..."

Elle really just wanted a friend -- all she had was Cassie, and as much fun as Cassie was, she had a feeling the other girl didn't really like her, was just using her for something. But she was what Elle had, so she lived with it.

"'cause I'm no angel, but please don't think that I won't try and try
I'm no angel, but does that mean that I can't live my life?
I'm no angel, but please don't think that I can't cry
I'm no angel, but does that mean that I won't fly?"

"When you die and you meet the High Lord of Hell, I hope he peels you apart layer by layer and takes your head and makes you pay for everything you've done here."

That probably wasn't the smartest things she could have said.

Elle looked positively hurt. "I hope you survive in here forever," she crooned. "All lost and alone and isolated from the land and everything that keeps you sane and who you are."

That thought hurt her deeply, but she didn't let the hurt show on her face.

"Even if I do, I will still be better and saner than you are. No matter how lost and isolated from the land I am, I will never be as tainted and have a heart as ugly and cruel as yours."

Cassidy, what have we said about not taunting the crazy who has a fixation on you?
