Detention, Depths of the Castle, Tuesday

Another bright, shining, and pink day had begun for the prisoners guests being held in detention, and while the morning started off the same as the day before, there was a strange sort of feeling in the air once people began waking up. A kind of... musical feeling, in fact.

Umbridge might have taken over the island, but the island still had a mind of her own, thank you very much.

[No, the barriers of detention cannot save you from Once More With Fandom Day! The OCD is up, so have at it!]

Jaye was picking at her food, but she didn't want to go a whole day without eating, so she was getting through it. She was contemplating throwing bits of the leftovers (and there would be leftovers, dammit) at others, just to liven things up.

Sing before she throws stuff, people.

As Zayne poked around at his food again, he couldn't help but feel somewhat optimistic. He'd been here for years now, and you know what? Warm oatmeal was a good start to the day. It made him optimistic for the day to come.

It was enough to make a guy sing.

"I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay

And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the power of the Force in my midichlorians
In my midichlorians
And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the power of the Force in my midichlorians

I've got the power of the Force, the power of the Force
In my midichlorians
Where?
In my midichlorians
Where?
In my midichlorians
I've got the power of the Force, the power of the Force
In my midichlorians
Where?
In my midichlorians to stay.

And if Umbridge doesn't like it
She can sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack!

And if Umbridge doesn't like it
She can sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack to stay!
"

Zayne paused there. That was probably an ill-advised verse, all things considered. Maybe he could cover it up with one more verse!

"And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the power of the Force in my midichlorians
In my midichlorians
And I'm so happy
So very happy
I've got the power of the Force in my midichlorians
!"

So. Yeah. Zayne was just going to eat his food now and try not to sing anymore today.

Dinah had tried to glue her mouth shut with bad food before. But now:

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing the song of angry men
It is a music of the people
who will not be slaves again...

Joy. Rapture. Head-wall.

Goose was shoving his food down his mouth as quickly as he could this morning. It was most likely not going to end well but he was hoping that it would at least stop him from trying to sing for a while at least.

Goose was sitting in his usual spot away from everyone but every now and then he would start singing much to his annoyance.

"I'm a nightmare, a disaster
That's what they said
I'm a lost cause, not a hero
But I'll make it on my own
I've gotta prove them wrong
Me against the world
It's me against the world,"

Cassidy had bypassed breakfast and was now sitting with her side against the wall, resting her head against it. She kept opening her eyes to look around her every few minutes and then would close them again.

Cassidy hated Tuesdays. Tuesdays meant a specific visitor. Oh, she sometimes came on other days, but she always came on Tuesdays. It was like a bastardization of a ritual between them.

Elle came bouncing into the room, humming under her breath. She was quite possibly as crazy as some of detention's residents were, so of course she enjoyed the singing.

Electricity was already crackling along the backs of her hands as she approached.

When Cassidy saw her come through the doors, she couldn't help the whimper that passed through her lips.

Maybe if she curled up really small, Elle would think she wasn't here...

Elle appreciated the effort that went into hiding from her -- she always appreciated a good effort, even if it didn't work.

Her idea of a reward was starting off with a short, light shock when she found Cassidy.

Jono wasn't singing.

Jono couldn't sing.

Jono was sitting there with his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed, hating everything about today.

Re: Visiting Hours [07/24]

Cassidy yelped softly, not wanting to let Elle hear her react so soon.

And if anyone were to come by for Jonothon today, he was going to just sit there, silently hoping that the island, at least, was kind enough to humiliate them by making them sing. Because that would almost make the inevitable torture worth it.

Almost.

Elle just pouted and shocked Cassidy harder. She hated when her gifts weren't appreciated!

Stark ate because the food was there. Starving, at least, was not an acceptable way out of this. If there was a way out of this.

So he ate. Slowly, and unhappily, but he ate. Not that anything done in this room was ever done happily. At least outside of visiting hours.

Again, Cassidy shook her head, clenching her jaw to keep any sounds from escaping her mouth. It would have been a good idea not to glare at Elle while she was doing so, though,

Crouching in a corner had worked yesterday for Stark. For that to work two days in a row would be something of a miracle. Stark knew better than to hope for that. Hope wasn't worth much.

Still, he would sit here, curled up as small as he could make himself. If nothing else he would at least present a smaller target.

Oh, that ungrateful little brat! Elle followed a shock up by a sharp backhand across the face. She took such good care of her favorite almost pet and this was the thanks she got?!

At least he wasn't singing. Or maybe he just wasn't singing yet. But he'd never been afflicted with singing any other time, so perhaps this would pass him by again and he would have something tiny to be thankful for. Stark doubted it. But it was the tiniest glimmer of hope and he could cling to that, at least for a little while. For now he would just listen to the singing.

Eve sat on the floor, her back against the wall, her lips pressed firmly together. She was not singing any more than was absolutely necessary, no thank you. She'd never enjoyed this and she wasn't about to start now.

Even as she sat, she looked around for the people she knew, keeping a mental tally. It was one of the things that kept her sanity in check, such as it was. (Which was really not at all.)
