Once Billy had gotten settled in behind the desk, he got onto the computer, and started researching everything he could find on goats. He didn't know if they'd be visiting again, and god knew that punching goats probably wasn't the normal way to handle them, but he liked being prepared just in case, okay?

"I still don't get the squirrels," Victor observed, leaning against the counter. "At first I figured they were droids or mutants or something, but from what I can tell they're just really nosy squirrels. But yeah, it feels like people end up knowing stuff even without their help."

"It can be helpful every once in a while. Like, if people are in trouble and don't say anything." TONY. "It'd make a lot more sense for the squirrels to be mutants, but I think there are laws in this place that only so many things are allowed to make sense at once," Billy said with a snicker. "Squirrels and weird teachers aside, have you been settling in okay?"

"As okay as I'm going to be, yeah," Victor said. "I miss home, I miss my friends, but at least it's not boring. And the people here have been really nice, so that helps."

"Yeah, there aren't very many people here who aren't nice. It's...okay, nice is an awkward word," Billy said, laughing. "I think the island part helps, because there aren't a lot of people wandering in and out, so everyone kind of sticks together."

"I guess there aren't a whole lot of other choices," Victor mused. "How long have you been here, anyhow? You sound like an old hand."

"I've been here for a little over a year now. I got here last summer," Billy said. "So, not too long compared to some people, but long enough to be prepared for at least some of the insanity."
