Angel got a cup of coffee. He looked around for Pip, then took a seat across from him once he found him.

"Hey."

Pip looked up. "Oh, hey. How are you doing?" He pointed to the lit cigarette. "Mind if I smoke?"

"Nope," Angel said. "Assuming that doesn't mean you're evil."

Pip blinked. "Er... I don't think I'm evil. Though I suppose that's a relative viewpoint. Is smoking some supernatural indicator of evil?"

"Back in my dimension if you see someone smoking it's a good sign they're bad news," Angel said. "If you see me smoking you should stake me."

"I'll keep that in mind," Pip said. "Bet the tobacco companies hate your dimension. Speaking of back home..." Pip pulled out a small electronic audio recorder. "I was wondering if you'd be willing to do me a favor? It's for a class."

Angel looked curious. "Sure. What's up?"

[ooc: Leaving for class in a half hour. Will be back later tonight.]

"Well, for my Music of the Multiverse class, I'm supposed to interview a resident of Fandom about the music of where they're from. I'm going for someone exotic, my partner is going for someone a little more closer to home. Unfortunately, the person I was going to interview left town suddenly without me getting a chance to interview them. It's due like, today, though I think I can get an extension for odd circumstances, and I figured since I was meeting with you anyway, you wouldn't mind giving me a lowdown about the music of your homeland?"

"Sure," Angel said. He sipped his coffee. "I mean it's pretty similar to here, but I can tell you what I know."

"Cool," Pip said, pulling out a sheet of notes. He fiddled with the recorder a bit and put it on the table between them.
"Simple question to start out with. For the record, state your name, age, place of origin, and occupation. Which I guess would be student in this case."

Angel looked at the tape recorder dubiously. "Uh - Angel. Over 200. And, uh, originally originally or just before I came to Fandom?"

"Originally originally," Pip said. "Unless you can't remember or there are memories that are too painful or something similar."

"Galway, Ireland," Angel answered. "1753, if that helps."

"Probably does," Pip said. "Alright, so describe as best you can the music of Galway, Ireland in the 1750s. What kinds of music were popular?"

Angel leaned back in his chair as he tried to remember. "Depends on where you spent your time. I was usually in the pub, so music was whatever minstrel was performing. Not the kind of fare you'd want performed in front of your mother either."

[ooc: Sorry it took so long! Didn't get back online until now.]

Pip laughed."Best kind. What kind of instruments would they use? And... what would be the bets modern comparison? Like, what would a modern person like me think of it?"

"Harps, fiddles, drums." It was possible that the faintest hint of a lilt was appearing in Angel's voice as his mind tripped down memory lane. "Instruments they still use with Irish music today, so your modern ears would probably know them."

Pip nodded. "Could you name an example of it? I mean, something I might be able to find would be great, but just some names of songs would be fine as well."

"Be easier if I gave you a name," Angel said. "Edward Bunting. He took it upon himself to try to preserve all the old music of Ireland before Gaelic culture was wiped out completely."

Pip scrawls the name down. "I'll google that when I get to the room. Let's see...." he looks over his list of questions. "What do you think of the music of today?"

"Mixed," Angel said. "Most of it's noisy and dumb. I do like a good power ballad though."

Pip raised an eyebrow, but didn't comment. Mostly because he couldn't think of witty response. Partially because this was for class. But mostly because he couldn't think of a witty response. "Could you name a few songs today that you like? Not including one's sung over the weekend."

"I'm a big fan of Manilow."

"Manilow?" Pip said. "Well, to each his own. Anything else interesting that you might be able to add?"

"I like some of what you'd probably call oldies," Angel said. "Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr - all that."
