There is, of course, junk food at the front of the room. Twinkies, Ho-Ho's, Doritos, Funyons, doughnuts, cinnamon buns, and bananas. Help yourself.

"Professor Ted's not here today, guys. He left me and Bridge in charge of the class. I would say fear but I'm a nice guy. I really am. Anyway, today's topic is The Uncharted Territories. What's an uncharted territory, you may ask? Exactly what it sounds like, dudes. Places, planets, species, stuff we haven't yet discovered. There's a whole universe out there filled with new and cool stuff!"

Discussion: "Let's say you're propelled into some part of space where no one has gone before. Perhaps you got there by a freak solar flare accident or teleportation or just really bad luck. The natives of said space are curious but wary. You have to explain the music of your world to them in fifteen words or less or they take you to their leader and bad things may happen. How would you explain your world's music?"

"Also, if you could, please hand in and present your interview assignments, dudes. Hope you didn't flake or Professor Ted might turn Professor Ninja on you."

Cameron takes a seat and hopes his last minute notes and disc (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/615845.html) will be adequate.

Jake digs out his interview with Barbossa (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/430837.html). "Sooo... What now?"

"Uh," Cameron stratches the back of his neck as he reads of Jake's notes. "So basically they both use music for work. Tex' gave me a tape and the song is about women, but it's also kinda violent and they use a lot of guitars. So if you'd combine that... We get a song with pipes and guitars about drunken women shooting people?"

Chloe totally points to Bridge, as if to say that the shiny project is all his doing because she has no mp3 skills, omg.

Bridge grins. "Chloe and I decided to take the From A to Z approach with our project, 'cause I ended up interviewing Archie Kennedy, and she interviewed Zero Hopeless-Savage. Anyway, so then we took some representative samples of their 'styles' of music, and came up with this! (http://thekimera.net/music/fh/)" On the last word, Bridge hits 'play' on the portable CD player he's carrying.

Angela is a little nervous as she smooths her notes from her interview with the Librarian.

Sam thankfully had reviewed Marty's notes and Isobel's before coming to class.

"Isobel and I interviewed Callisto and Stark as our subjects. It's quite a contrast of cultures as Casllisto is from a part of Greece almost three thousand years ago and a culture of dominance while Stark is from outer space and part of a race where most of them are slaves"

In Callisto's time period, people learn a bunch of music from a young age and use pretty basic instruments, including drums, gaida, chanting, some string intruments; while Stark's is quiet and sometimes sad. They're a quiet people, so there aren't many instruments, mostly singing, chanting and drums, sometimes if they are available. While Callisto's people have songs that are tied to holidays and cultural events, Stark's people's songs are more tied more to the births, deaths and to celebrate and ease transitions.

And while Callisto finds most of the music here instantly forgettable (though some have a couple of catchy tunes), Stark found that the Spice girls weren't actually bad though the song he heard tended to stick in his head forever.

Izzie snickers a little at the Spice Girls reference. She hadn't meant for it to get stuck in Stark's head. It was actually one of her favorites. She's glad that she doesn't have to talk today.

After the presentation she leans over, and whispers, "Thanks for presenting. You did a great job."

"Thanks. Sorry I was a flake all week and didn't get back to you earlier."

Pip digs out the transcription (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/619376.html?thread=29508208#t29508208) of his interview with Angel and hands it in.

Sawyer does the same with his interview with Lucas (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/616278.html?thread=24023894#t24023894).

Re: Lindsey and Harry

Harry feels pretty good about the assignment, they've talked it through (http://harried-potter.livejournal.com/35369.html?mode=reply) and as long as there are no tribal enemies around, things should go well.

"You ready, Lindsey?"

Lindsey nods to Harry and cues up the mp3 of Cole's music before turning to the class.

"So, I interviewed Cole Turner, Belthazor, about his creepy demon music. Basically, it's creepy. Drums, howling, chanting, that sort of thing. He was kind enough to provide me with an example of creepy demon music from the Underworld which I will play for you...later." Lindsey stops and turns to his partner. "Harry?"
