Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

Which was putting it lightly, what with the Sith hate.

And she didn't feel evil, but then Vestara wasn't exactly cackling with glee most days either...

"Because shockingly, we haven't managed to destroy the Sith for all time?" he asked tiredly.

"To say the least," she replied. "I won't be happy until they are destroyed."

"Fan-kriffing-tastic," Ben muttered. "Don't suppose they've made it easy and have gone back to the Rule of Two?"

"No," she said, very seriously.

Ben blew out a breath. "This is weird for me," he admitted. "For the last four years, I've been the furthest point for our family timeline, and I didn't want to tell things in case it screwed something up, you know?"

"Understandable," Sia told him. "Even if I knew the answers to all of the questions I'm sure you and your grandfather have, there are things I certainly wouldn't answer."

"Let's keep it general then," Ben decided. "Are you here to keep you safe?"

It seemed to be a theme for them.

"Yes," she said, allowing a little sigh of frustration. "Which I am less than pleased with, but I understand why it had to be done."

"Join the crowd," Ben said with a sympathetic smile. "It's why I ended up here to begin with, but it's really not that bad."

"It seems all right so far." Atton aside. "It still feels cowardly."

Last in the line. Had to keep reminding herself of that.

Yeah, definitely one of his relatives. "Think of this as a place to get new perspective," Ben offered quietly. "To remember that there's more out there than the neverending dance of Jedi and Sith."

Oh, she definitely remembered. The Jedi were unfortunately little more than an afterthought to her now.

"I'm not a Jedi," she told him, figuring she should get that out of the way.

And that was an idea that would have seemed impossible to him a few years ago. Instead he looked kind of relieved. Maybe he wouldn't bring ruin to the galaxy by not being a Jedi.

"Not just because you're an apprentice, right?"

"I am an apprentice," Sia said. "But an apprentice Imperial Knight."

"Huh?"

Sia was beginning to think that maybe she should do some research into when exactly everything in the past... however many years since Ben's time happened.

"Have you not heard of them yet?"

"No," Ben said, coughing. "Well, other than a weird weekend where we woke up twenty something years in the future...do they break with the Order and serve Jag? Or something?"

His memory was hazy at best on that aspect.

"If you would like to stay with general things, you might not want to know," she said. She'd tell him if he wanted her to, but she wouldn't do so without permission.

"Good point," Ben admitted, running his hands through his hair. "You're okay, though? All of your limbs are still attached?"

"I am, and they are," Sia assured him. "I've been very well protected."

Ben nodded, accepting that as pretty normal. "If you need a sparring partner, let me know, okay? I'm here until the end of the summer and self-defense and lightsaber moves can't have changed that much." He grinned. "And if they have, it's good to learn something new."

"I have little but free time," Sia told him with a little smile of appreciation, "and I will take all the help I can get."

"What classes are you taking?" Ben asked. "Hopefully you didn't get anyone too insane."

"Surviving Life at Court, and the... teamwork self-defense class."

Saying she was in a class called 'Kicking Ass' did not feel right at all.
