Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 2)

Were you all enjoying your graduation, children? Ingvar certainly hoped you were. It was so much fun, after all! Though... it could be a little more fun, couldn't it? It felt as if something was missing somehow. Something to really make it... fun.

Ingvar knew what it was.

And so, while the graduates were still on and around the stage, the earth began to rumble. Large black clouds of smoke pushed out of Ingvar's volcano and into the air, obscuring the sky and the moon. Soon, the air was covered in a thick black blanket of darkness.

The tune of the rumbling shifted.

Around the stage, clear protective walls sprung up. This was not Fandom's first tango on graduation day, thank you. She knew how to take care of what was hers.

Unfortunately, Ingvar knew its mother well. Moments later, it began to rain: a thick downpour of familiar plastic poppets in varying levels of creepiness, but also nice, brown, fluffy ...red-eyed, sharp-clawed teddy bears. And leading the charge, teeth-first--

"DROP BEARS!"

See, this was why Gabrielle had long ago learned to value a good sturdy pair of boots.

And the satisfaction of not having Xena try to do all her fighting for her. So it was a vicious furry thing, not a half dozen bandits. Details.

She didn't jump out of the way in time to avoid having her robe slashed, but she did aim a kick at the Drop Bear.

"It didn't have to be this way, you know," she informed it.

"RRGH?" came right before the THUCK! as the kick struck home and it rolled a few feet away like a fuzzy armadillo.

That meant please, statistically unlikely blonde-haired, blue-eyed Greek girl, tell me why it didn't have to be like this.

Maybe.

Or maybe it just meant RARR I AM COMING FOR YOU AGAIN AS SOON AS I ROLL TO MY FEETS.

Just roll with it, confused Drop Bear. It was less painful that way.

"People aren't that tasty," Gabrielle warned -- and no, she was not so bloodthirsty these days that she'd kick a furry creature while it was down, even if it was trying to bite her.

. . . Gabrielle, why were you trying to reason with it?

"RRRRGH!"

Which was Drop Bear for yes, yes they are.

What Drop Bears were good at, of course, was dropping, not fighting from the ground. It looked around for something to scurry up, but found... only Gabrielle.

WELL FINE, IT WOULD JUST DO THAT THEN.

WHY WERE THINGS ALWAYS TRYING TO EAT HER?

Don't answer that.

Aaaaaaaaand there she was, pummeling at the Drop Bear with her sai again, and yelling this time. "Get your paws off me!"

What, you expected original lines from her in a fight?

"ROOOURWWRD...sigh."

Which was Drop Bear for Oh, honey, that was Nick-level bad.

Whoever that might be.

"GGRK!"

That, on the other paw, was Drop Bear for "GRRK!" Because a sai to the larynx hurt.
