Speech Comm

[First, for the 201 students, here is the link I meant to give you yesterday. If she gets stuck, just click and drag her.]

301--3rd period

"So business and trust. I did a little experiment, a little practical application...and I have to tell you, I was pretty happy." She launches into the tale of how Lucas the record store guy earned her trust. She smiles and pulls out Stevie Ray Vaughn and plays it for the class during the discussion.

"So...we've done trust and business, and trust and S/M/R...how about trust as it relates to emotions?"
and that's a cold shot babe....

*** *** *** *** ***

401--5th period

"I'm going to set you up and turn you loose. There is an inherent power that comes with trust. It's an insticntual bond between parent and child...in theory, and is less fragile than most people assume in an interpersonal relationship. I want you to either go to the library or get online and find evidence of a relationship where trust is either very stron OR has been broken, and investigate the power dynamic of the scenario."

She's kinda fidgetty...like she wants to get out of here, like now...

Boone grins. "First of all? Stevie Ray Vaughn? Awesome."

"Getting back on topic, I guess trust is like the bandwidth of communication with someone that you like. I mean, there's not really much use of establishing any kind of connection with someone you don't feel you can trust."

He shifts, considering for a moment before answering. "For personal gain, sometimes. Other times it could be out of compassion or pity. That didn't make much sense, did it?"

Maia signed in.

"Trust...I honestly don't know C.J." Maia said her mind blank with an answer to give to C.J.

Maia stared at her desktop and thought of Chiana leaving in the dead of night last night. "No." She said in a whisper. "As a teacher yeah, to teach me but...overall.." Maia shook her head.

Shep is entranced by that thing 201 is looking at. It disturbs him for reasons he can't pin down, yet he continues to watch - it's sort of like watching a car wreck or an inevitable fist fight.

When jostled out of his disturbed meditative state, he replies with, "Losing emotional trust sucks way worse than say, a business' trust. When you trust someone to not take advantage of your emotions and they do, a refund just won't cut it when you're trying to repair things. And it's a lot harder to walk away from a person you've previously trusted than the gas station that short-changed you."

Togusa didn't have much to contribute, but was happy with the music.

There's actually a version where you drag George W. Bush Shrub around. It's very cathertic when my outrage meter pegs.

Regrettably linkage is on the currently dead laptop. But Google is my friend.

Fun with Shrub (http://www.planetdan.net/pics/misc/georgie.htm)

Oops, did that above. It is totally whack.

And I did not just stare at it for almost eight full minutes before moving away from it.
