Walter, despite not being particularly impressed with today's selection, is also famished from his body's one day adventure with a cold. It might be a bother to feed his metabolism, but there are definite benefits.

Today he has loaded his tray with an impressive mound of food and wanders over to a seat near the window to establish the smoking section.

He props a book open in front of himself and starts multitasking reading, note taking, smoking, and shoveling food in his face.

Pip wandered in, his millitary coat closed for a change. He grabbed some food and stood between Walter and Nadia.

Hmmm. Something going on between them. Walter looked busy, but he and Walter always sat in the smoking section.

"Do you mind?" Pip said, taking a seat with Walter. "I won't bother you, but I think they prefer it if we smokers sit together."

"I don't mind at all." said Pippi plunking down her tray.

Somewhere under all those toots and fries is a burger... maybe.

"Hey, um," Boone approached, slightly nervous. "Mind if I sit here?"

"Only if you don't mind sitting in the smoking section." Pippi responded patting the seat next to her.

"Which is anywhere you'll see these two scallawags." she nods in the direction of Walter and Pip.

"I don't think I've met you before. I'm Pippi. Pippi Longstocking."

She's 14, freckels, red-headed, braids that stick out, and wearing an outfit that would make Punky Brewster's eyes bug out of her head.

The dark-haired boy grinned, "Not at all." He responded, reaching into his pocket for cigarettes. "I hope you don't mind..."

"I'm Boone Carlyle. I think I've seen you around a few times..."

"We don't mind. The more people smoking, the less chance our friends will ask us to stop." Walter waved at the newcomer. "Walter Dornez. Have a seat."

Boone complied, smiling at the sable-haired youth. "Thanks," he said, fumbling to light a cigarette.

Pip pulled out a lighter and held it up for the kid's cigarette. "Here ya go. Pip Bernadette."

Pippi isn't sure if she's seen Boone around or not, but is always happy to get talkin' with somebody new.

With a wave of her hand she said, "Nah, I'm fine, been hanging around with these two smoke-stacks. Can't think one more will really make much of a difference." She smiled, which isn't unusual, she's always smiling.

"So what's your story Boone?"

"My story's kinda dull..." he said with a wry smile. "Probably not as interesting as anyone else around here's."

"But that in and of itself makes it singular, and thus interesting. Don't ya think?"

Nadia, who was most definitely not watching Walter out of the corner of her eye, definitely doesn't notice the new guy sitting down.

Snce she's not watching and thus not noticing, and is instead entirely focused on her notebook, she's not thinking that she might have just found a candidate to get her mind off of Walter.

Really, she's totally not.

Walter is not noticing Nadia sitting at another table looking busy and she is definitely not attempting to covertly glance at his table.

He is not wanting to hide behind his book while he figures out how not to lose a friend.

Pippi is totally not thinking that she saw Boone first; and if a certain Hawk doesn't show up next time Pippi is in the park Nadia will have a run for her money. ;P

Boone doesn't pick up on the tension, because it isn't there, since they aren't looking at each other. And he certainly isn't noticing the redhead.

Nadia might now be too busy not noticing Boone to not notice Walter not noticing her.

But maybe not.

Walter is so busy not noticing both Nadia and Boone that he might not notice her not noticing Boone.

Or he might get confused by all the not noticing and simply notice that Nadia's looking at Boone and be relieved in a not noticing sort of way.

Pip, on the other hand, is completely and utterly unaware that any of this his happening and doesn't notice a damn thing. No, really. He actually isn't not noticing anything.

Walter flipped his book closed and looked up. "Of course not. How have you been?"

"Get back to me in about an hour and a half," Pip responded, taking his seat and lighting up a cigarette.

Pippi gave Pip a sympathetic pat on the shoulder.

"I don't think you can hang around for 200 years having a soul and all without learning something about how people can become emotional and protective. I'm sure it will work out."

Walter thought Pippi was an optimist, but that was one of the reasons he liked her.

"Good luck on that, Pip. I did not sing him a song on Saturday and already made my apologies for my behavior - not to him - to Logan."
