"But that in and of itself makes it singular, and thus interesting. Don't ya think?"

"Pippi's right. That makes you a novelty." Walter is trying to keep focused. This Boone guy's not bad looking, maybe Nadia...

Boone grinned. "I'm sixteen and I'm from California. This time period. I'm very...WASPish. My family has a bit of money, and, over the last six years, I've spent more time in boarding schools than I have at home."

"WASPish? You have a bad temperament? Thank you for warning us in advance. Is that why you have been in boarding schools so much?"

"No bad temperament." He assured quickly. "I just meant that I come from the typical rich kid in suburbs family."

Walter nodded dubiously. "I am not from this time period, so I will take you at your word for what is typical."

"Honestly? I don't know what's typical myself."

"Around here, not even breathing is necessarily typical, so you will fit right in. My roommate is an alchemist, my boyfriend is a mutant, and that nice redhaired girl," he nodded toward Pippi, "is stronger than anyone I've ever met who had a pulse."

"Really?" He looked over at the redhead, surprised.

"Yeah, Pippi's a lot of fun and she's the one to see for heavy lifting. She held a golf cart up on the ceiling while Pip and I duct taped it there."

Boone grinned. "Sounds like fun."

"How does your family earn its money? If you're WASPish, does that mean they're in paper?"

"My mom's a Martha Stewart-esque wedding planning...person. My stepdad's a pretty big lawyer."

"And...what?" He lost by the last part.

"Oh... What does that have to do with being a being a wasp (http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2077.html)?"

"It's an acronym," he said, amused by the ~~too cute for words~~ redhead. "I picked it up in prep school, I guess."

"Ohhhhh!" she says. "So do you like this school better then the other ones?"

"A lot better." He affirmed. "More interesting, for one thing. Better people, for another."

"Yes, for one thing, we don't tend to name eachother after bugs." she took a sip of her soda.

"So what classes are you taking?"

"Speech, Arthurian Traditions, both business classes, and Music 101."

"What about you? Where are you from?"

"Well, I was born on the open sea, and I grew up sailing tall ships all over the world. But my Papa and Mama are from Sweden. I lived there for a few years before comming here a few weeks ago."

"The ocean? That's pretty cool. Where have you been to?"

"Pretty much everywhere the ocean can reach. Haven't spent much time in California though, sadly. But we mostly kept to the Atlantic and the South Seas."

"I'll have to invite you to my place sometime over the summer. Or spring break or something. The South Seas? The Carribeans?"

"Oh that would be lovely! It would have to be summer I think, because the Student Councel is planning a special trip for the first half of spring break."

She nodded to Boone's question. "Yes, there are those that do call it that. The Carribian. Or the Karry-Bee-ann. It's ever so much more fun then the Atlantic. Lots if interesting little islands here and there to explore... And the weather's nicer also, even in storm season."

"I've only been there a few times," he admitted. "Both times were to very touristy places. Your little islands sound a lot better."
