Dewey peers into the library, then walks straight up to the girl with the laptop.

"So, are you the Li-berrian?" he asks, smiling.

Rory glanced up, arching a brow.

"No...sir...just an aide. Can I help you?"

"Naw, no. Dewey Finn, your acting Principal." Dewey gives a little finger wave. "Just trying to get things all settled and figured out and stuff. You get a lot of kids comin' in here? Avid reader types?"

Rory blinked.

"Um, sir, yes we do," she said, smiling and unconsciously shifting to her 'talking to important grown-ups' voice. "We have a few regulars who come in every day, and then there's always a few who are doing research, or just need a quiet place to study."

"Awesome!" Dewey says in a not-so-library-quiet-voice, giving twin thumbs up. "Regular geek squad hang out, alright. So, when I have trouble with my computer, I'll just come to the library and grabd the first kid I see." Dewey nods and grins.

"Um. Actually, I don't know a thing about computers," Rory glanced at her laptop and smiled sheepishly. "What I mean is, most of the people who come in here could probably be classified as book nerds rather than computer geeks."

"Damn!" Dewey covers his mouth. "I mean, darn! No swearin' in front of the impressionable youth, right? I think that was part of my ten minute orientation call I got yesterday. No swearing." Dewey nods. "So... come here and grab someone if I need to find out what happens in the last pages of Moby Dick or something? That's cool too. Not as useful, but still cool."

"Right...or you could always get a library card yourself and find out," Rory suggested.

"You know," Dewey taps a finger against his lips. "I could. Hit me up with one of those, would you?"

Rory handed over a form. "Blue or black ink, name, faculty position, and where we can reach you. And please don't put you're the Chosen One or Janet will get cranky."

She might have rolled her eyes slightly at that last part.

Dewey pats down all his pockets and frowns a bit. "Don't suppose you have a pen, do you? I'm coming up short, here..."

Rory handed him a blue ballpoint pen with a sigh.

[ooc: Am going AFK for an hour to take a final, woe!]

Dewey takes the pen, and begins scribbling on the form.

Dewey Finn, Substitute Principal, 555-ROCK

He scowls for a moment and then adds Chosen One of Rock after the Principal bit. Just because making Janet cranky sounds like a good way to stick it to the man... that isn't him.

[ooc: Woe.]

Angela peer over Rory's shoulder to see Dewey's form ~~unless you guys have a plan for this conversation, in which case she can be ignored.~~ She grins at the "chosen one of rock" line.

"I thought that was Springsteen, or Lennon, or something," she says.

"Hey, Chosen Ones gotta be around all the time, you know?" Dewey gives a thumbs up. "I have personally picked up the torch of my rock predecessors ~~like Dio~~ and am carrying it... through my personal outlet of the educationary system."

There realy isn't much to say to that except "Awesome." Which Angela says.

"How'd you end up being our principal? The last three were all very scary people."

"Really?" Dewey taps a finger against his lips. "Well, I just sorta got called yesterday to come fill in for awhile. I had previous experience with the school, so that sorta worked in my favor, I guess." He shrugs and smiles.

"I'm not normally an administrative type of guy. But they were payin' a pretty penny that I could not turn down."

"You were here before? I totally did not see you. Or were you a student before we got here?"

"Anyhow ... it's cool that they pay you well. They don't pay us at all," Angela pouts.

"Dewey Finn, substitute history teacher. Sat in for Mister Simian?" Dewey tilts his head in a manner entirely un-Veronica Mars-like. "Sucks that they don't pay you, but it's one of those learning work training experience things, I'm guessin'. The work is its own reward."

Angela shrugs amiably. "It keeps us out of trouble, anyhow. And yeah, we get credit."

"And it's good to meet you, Mr. Finn. I'm Angela."

"Good to meet you too, Angela." Dewey drums his fingers in the air. "So, how long do I need to wait before I get my shiny-happy li-berry card?"

"Oh, sorry, I thought Rory was getting that," Angela says, blushing. "I'll get it to you in a second."

She takes the form from Dewey, wondering if she should black out the "chosen one" designation before filing it. She decides to ~~stick it to the man~~ take a chance and doesn't bother. Soon enough, Dewey's card is prepared and she hands it over.

"Here you go, Mr. Finn. Enjoy your stay here."

Dewey takes the library card and smiles. "Thanks, Angela. I hope I enjoy it too." He gives another thumbs-up and wanders out of the library.
