Monster attack

Shots can still be heard down in the town. The troopers seem to be all tied up down there. Which is why it might be disconcerting to anyone watching out the windows to see figures begin rising out of the snow on the lawn of the school. More are moving out of the trees also.

They begin making their way toward the buildings.

[[OOC: If people choose to leave the building to fight, please organize yourselves into groups (preferably in the gym thread) and post your location in the subject line. This will make it a lot easier for me to keep track of everything.]]

She caught it in one hand with a grin. "Thanks." She fired rapidly, thinning out those nearest her and jammed her PPG into her holster while she went for the hem of her shirt under her jacket. "Lyta. Big stick. Five minutes ago."

Lyta arched a brow at Ivanova's command. "Not even going to say please?"

Ivanova didn't change expression. "Lyta. Big pleasing stick. Five minutes ago." She managed to get a strip torn off the bottom of her shirt. "Unless you want me to wrap this around my hand, light it on fire, and karate chop them to death."

"The thought does have its appeal." Lyta smirked, then turned away to find a big boom stick.

"Happily, I'm already taken." Even soaking wet, freezing her little Russian heinie off, and facing legions of the unwarm, that thought still made her a little happy and floaty inside. She kept shooting while Lyta scrounged, keeping her immediate area clear of snowy menaces.

Lyta returned with two good, solid sticks, whammie-ing a few mini!creatures as she wove her way back to the team. "Her Highness' stick," she said, offering the item to Ivanova.

"Thank you. You may kiss my ring later." Ivanova tore the strip of fabric in two, wrapped it around the end of each stick, doused them in lighter fluid, and fired a PPG near them. They burst into flames - why not? - and Ivanova grinned. She twirled it experimentally. "Time to practice our self-defense," she smiled, and began swinging away at the snowthings, being careful never to douse the end completely.

[[Rostand + jello shots =/= strategy. Forgiveness.]]

"I guess now would be a bad time to let you know that I never took self defense?"

"Oh." Ivanova paused and hesitated. "Can you . . . lift it out of my mind? If it would help us."

Lyta looked at her skeptically. "You... really want me to do that?"

"No. I don't." Ivanova replied, whirling the staff and using the unlit end to sweep a snowthing off its feet - literally, as its top half tumbled over and its legs remained standing. "But for the love of god, Lyta, use the big flaming stick or your PPG but don't just stand there!"

Shaking her head, Lyta started swinging the stick as best she could, taking out one or two snowcreatures despite herself. Maybe she should join the self-defense club if she survived this?

[Want Lyta to poke around and take what she needs?]

The flame began to go out in the icy cold, struggling to stay alive. Ivanova doused it with a bit more fuel and it flared up again. She began to wish Tonks was there. The spunky witch would have a spell to melt these things in their tracks, she was sure. And nothing would lift her spirits more at the moment.

[[Go ahead. It'll give her something to angst about in therapy. And for some reason I thought you were in Self-Defense with Duncan.]]

Lyta glanced to Ivanova, then narrowed her eyes, concentrating. As she tried to push in, she felt the reflexive push back -- just as she had when attempting to out the PsiCorps mole. Her lips thinned, and she backed out. "I can't. You don't want me to, and I can't bring myself to do it."

She instead whipped out the PPG and started firing at snowcreatures with one hand, torch in the other.

She looked menacing, at least.

Ivanova tensed automatically when she felt Lyta's brush hers, and forced herself to relax, but Lyta was out of her head.

With a hiss, her torch went out for good. Still, she leapt forward, flailing about as best she could, sending snow flying in all directions. A snowy tentacle reared out of a pile of snow that had been a snowthing's torso and struck Ivanova hard across the ribs, sending her flying into the wall of the school. She dropped to her hands and knees, dazed. Blood dripped onto the snow.

[[I'm getting sleepy, so I thought I'd maim her so you can drag her in to the medics. My poor Ivanova.]]

Lyta whirled and fired without even taking time to aim. She didn't need to. She knew it would hit.

Quickly, she tracked across the snow and knelt beside Ivanova. "You all right?" She knew the answer, but the question was out of her mouth before she could stop it.

"I'm fine," Ivanova muttered, some vaguely, and sat back on her heels, visibly wavering. She raised one hand to the back of her head, and it came came away sticky and dark. She frowned. "That's not good." Her eyes were unfocused and her hands were shaking.

"No, it's not." She offered support to help Ivanova to her feet. "Come on... to the infirmary. You should be familiar with that..."

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Ivanova wavered even more on her feet, narrowing her eyes at the snowthings, which were blending into the snowy landscape. "So much white. We must escape . . . the white . . ." She blinked and shook her head, which just made everything worse. "Right. Leaving. Going. To infirmary."
