Thank God it's Friday. Parker's hoping to just get through today and then go kill people. She'll help you, but wouldn't you rather be elsewhere?

Zero came in, looking frantic and in need of caffeine at the same time. "Has anyone heard from Rory? What's going on?"

"She's here sort of, she's okay, mostly. But very, very freaked." Parker runs a hand through her hair, looking upset.

"This is getting insane. I thought we had law enforcement now. And I never thought I'd say this, but bring on the squalling cops."

"I know. I'm right there with you. I don't know what the hell the problem is."

"There is something seriously grinding wrong in that town right now. I don't like it. At least I got my grocery shopping done for a bit."

Rory wandered out from the stacks.

"Hi Zero. How're you?"

"Fine," Rory nodded. "Little shaken up, but otherwise just fine. And my head hurts."

Zero nods. "That's good." Privately, she's kind of wondering if there's something about Rory that draws vampires. Maybe her blood tastes like chocolate syrup or something.

"Yep. And I have all my blood and everything. Yay!"

Okay, so maybe not the blood=chocolate syrup thing. "Yay for that! Massive blood loss? Not a good thing."

"Do you feel up to talking about what actually happened? Or would you rather let it go for now?" Parker asked.

Having already given the whole story to Angel, Anakin and her mother, Rory barely paused before launching into it.

"I was in Caritas, and I saw Darla watching me. So I left - yes, really, really stupid of me. She grabbed me in the alley, and drugged me. Chloroform, I think. I woke up tied up in a closet with a blindfold."

Rory took a deep breath. "She told me about how she was going to kill me, and threatened to turn me and set me on the school. I told her I'd rather die than have that happen. She opened the door, took away the blindfold, and did that scary face thing they do. Then she let me go after cutting away my ties with a big knife. And threatening to kill me with it."

Rory shrugged. "I ran. Called Anakin, my mom, and Professor Tick. Went straight to Angel. And that's pretty much it."

Parker's lips tightened through this recitation, and she let out a slow breath. After a couple moments, she said, "I hate to say this, but I think she was playing with you to get to Angel."

Rory nodded. "That's what Angel said. That she's trying to send a message with all these attacks."

"Great." Parker studied Rory. "You seem pretty calm now. I assume, uh." She cocked her head, then delicately said, "The radio said you were with Anakin. I'm guessing he did the good-friend thing and stayed with you?"

"Yes," Rory said, pointing to where Anakin was 'reading' and dropping her voice slightly. "He's being a bit protective. It's sweet."

"Yeah, it is." And at least it's probably reassuring to Rory, even if there's all those reasons why it unsettles Parker. "I'm glad he came through for you last night." She rubbed a hand over her face. "Let's hope he doesn't have to again."

"I think he's going to do something else." Rory gingerly shook her head. "He's...really not okay with this."

Oh, perfect. A Jedi on a warpath? Parker was inviting herself to this party if she had tie herself to Skywalker by his robe belt. "I have an idea what, I cann't blame him." She shook her head. "I think I'll go along, just to make sure the guys in question do it *right*."

"Mmm. I don't know that anyone's doing anything. Anakin seems pretty content to stick to me today," Rory mused. "Angel for sure is doing something, though. I just wouldn't be surprised if...people tagged along."
