History of Art / Studio Art Combined Studio | Jan 27, Periods 5&6

As the students came into class, they would be able to see large photographic prints of Greek Statuary, as well several draperies and what looked suspiciously like white body paint. There are also a number of sketchpads and cameras.

"Okay kids, I want the History of Art students to split up into three groups of three and one of four.

"Once you're in your group, I want you to pick a statue and recreate it as accurately as possible, using the paint, the drapes and one of your group. Although please keep your clothes on. This is, after all, a school.

"Meanwhile, I want the studio art students to each take a camera and a sketchbook, and draw and photograph the History of Art students while they work. Try and work on cropping, balance and placement when taking photos. And it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. Keep it clean."

"So...," Angela agrees. "See any status you like?"

"Well..." and he blushes a bit, "I happen to like a lot of them...especially this one (http://www.hellenic-art.com/statues/daphne.htm) because I love how she's turning into a tree. That's just neat."

Angela looks at the sculpture, not blushing at the nudity. It's art and stuff, right? Nothing to be embarassed by.

"Oh, that's cool. I love the lines of their bodies." She taps a pencil against her desk, glancing at Lee. "Once our third gets here, do you wanna model Apollo?"

"...okay," he says, just slightly nervously. "So, we're to put on all this white body paint and model then?"

"Yeah. Professor Autolycus said we shouldn't actually get naked, so ...." Angela's voice trails off, unsure what to suggest.

She's also trying to decide if she wants to offer to be Daphne.

[OOC: What is he wearing? Angela's in t-shirt, v-neck sweater, corduroy pants, boots.]

"Well, it's a little cold to take my shirt off..." he muses, "but if it's for a grade..."

He flails a little. "I hope the white paint washes out."

Angela shakes her head. "It had better wash off. And I would take off my sweater, but that's it. The whole class does not need to see my bra. If I even model."

Lee blushes. "The story behind this sculpture is kinda... disturbing, isn't it?"

"Even aside from the whole stalkery thing," Xander said, wandering up to them after signing in, "He 'held the tree in a special place in his heart?' So if you like somebody and they're so not into you they turn into a tree to get away, it's totally appropriate to pick their leaves and wear 'em on your head?"

"Yep. One for gender equity," Angela says, tying the robe around her waist and starting to smear body paint onto her face and arms.

She looks arund the classroom as she works. "Are there props we could use for the tree?"

Lee starts plastering the paint on himself. And grimaces. "It's cold."

"We need a shrubbery."

Xander blinked. "I... could be a shrubbery? I guess? I mean, if the pirate can pull it off..."

Lee pales. Which no notices as he's covered in white paint from forehead to navel now. "Then, I guess you'd get on my back as Daphne is becoming the tree and your hands could be reaching up as the newly formed treebranches?"

Angela isn't giggling at the mental picture. Nope. Of course, this might be because her face is caked with paint and the stuff really is cold.

"Okay? I mean, if you can hold him like that."

"Okay, Harris as tree. This, I want to see you pull off." Her grin widens. "I think he should take his shirt off too."

Angela raises her eyebrows (or tries to, under the paint) but says nothing. Instead, she leans down to take her boots off -- no way could she get her feet right with them weighing her down.

She hops a bit when her foot touches the floor through a hole in her sock. "I guess I'm ready whenever you guys are?"

Lee laughs as he waits for Xander. "You feel in character yet, Angela?" he says, smirking.

"I always feel like a sun god, of course," Angela says, voice thick with irony. "You feel like a tree-girl-thingie?"

"I just don't know how I feel about a girl chasing me," Lee quips and bites his nails mock-nervous.

"Well, I don't remotely feel like wood," Xander lies says. He glares at Parker as he... tries to do that thing with his wrists that the tree is doing. "And I'm not taking my shirt off. The tree doesn't have its shirt off."
