History of Art / Studio Art Combined Studio | Jan 27, Periods 5&6

As the students came into class, they would be able to see large photographic prints of Greek Statuary, as well several draperies and what looked suspiciously like white body paint. There are also a number of sketchpads and cameras.

"Okay kids, I want the History of Art students to split up into three groups of three and one of four.

"Once you're in your group, I want you to pick a statue and recreate it as accurately as possible, using the paint, the drapes and one of your group. Although please keep your clothes on. This is, after all, a school.

"Meanwhile, I want the studio art students to each take a camera and a sketchbook, and draw and photograph the History of Art students while they work. Try and work on cropping, balance and placement when taking photos. And it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. Keep it clean."

"Well..." and he blushes a bit, "I happen to like a lot of them...especially this one (http://www.hellenic-art.com/statues/daphne.htm) because I love how she's turning into a tree. That's just neat."

Angela looks at the sculpture, not blushing at the nudity. It's art and stuff, right? Nothing to be embarassed by.

"Oh, that's cool. I love the lines of their bodies." She taps a pencil against her desk, glancing at Lee. "Once our third gets here, do you wanna model Apollo?"

"...okay," he says, just slightly nervously. "So, we're to put on all this white body paint and model then?"

"Yeah. Professor Autolycus said we shouldn't actually get naked, so ...." Angela's voice trails off, unsure what to suggest.

She's also trying to decide if she wants to offer to be Daphne.

[OOC: What is he wearing? Angela's in t-shirt, v-neck sweater, corduroy pants, boots.]

"Well, it's a little cold to take my shirt off..." he muses, "but if it's for a grade..."

He flails a little. "I hope the white paint washes out."

Angela shakes her head. "It had better wash off. And I would take off my sweater, but that's it. The whole class does not need to see my bra. If I even model."

[OOC: Put this on hold until the last person in the group shows up?]

Lee blushes. "The story behind this sculpture is kinda... disturbing, isn't it?"

"Even aside from the whole stalkery thing," Xander said, wandering up to them after signing in, "He 'held the tree in a special place in his heart?' So if you like somebody and they're so not into you they turn into a tree to get away, it's totally appropriate to pick their leaves and wear 'em on your head?"

"Apollo's a bit sick," Lee says, nodding. "So, Xander, wanna model Daphne?"

Xander eyed the statue, then eyed Lee. "Oh, but you've got the better rack," he said with a mostly straight face. "You should totally have the honor."

Angela grins at this. "Seriously, Lee. It's for art."

"But if he's Daphne, who's Apollo? ~~And where are Fred and Velma?~~"

"So I'm the tree girl now?" Lee says. "Okay...if we're inverting genders then Angela gets to be Apollo, damnit."

"Oh, thank god," Xander said. Which had nothing do do with feeling uncomfortable at the idea of taking his shirt off for art. ""Cause that thing Apollo's doing with his wrist? I don't think my hand bends that way."

Lee starts to unbutton his shirt. "Really?" he asks, confused.

"Sure your arm does. It's just --" Angela attempts to demonstrate with her own arm.

"Ow. That hurts your elbow. But yeah, I can be the boy for this. My t-shirt stays on, though." She pulls her own sweater over her head, then puts her hair in a quick ponytail as she talks.

"However, we must mock the sculpture by having one of those robe thingers carefully placed over your manhood," Lee laughs.

"So Apollo's Daphne, and Angela's Apollo? I like." Parker's grin is probably pretty evil.

[OOC: And we're here.]

Lee rolls his eyes at Parker as he pulls his undershirt off as well. "My name isn't Apollo, Parker."

"It might be. ~~When there's a caper afoot. Whee!~~ In some other universe," she said, grinning. "Work it, Adama!"

Lee glares at her. ~~If only so I can use this icon. Squee.~~

"If you're Greek, I guess?" Angela laughs. "Hi, Xander. We're trying to decide who should model. Lee offered to take his shirt off for credit."

If Xander looked slightly interested at this news, you wouldn't be able to torture the admission of same out of him.

Which didn't stop him from encouraging Lee in that plan. Sort of.
