The Library is Open - 01/23

Rory sleepily made her way into the library, coffee in hand, and took her seat behind the desk.

Sure, "happy" or "awake" wouldn't be very apt descriptions today. But really, did that matter?

Anakin walked into the library and smiled at Rory the library aides gathered around the desk.

"Hi," he said. "I was wondering if you had anything here about the Jedi, specifically the Jedi Code." His expression darkened. "I need to prove something to Professor Skitter for a class project."

Rory's brows shot up and she quickly flipped over the paper she had been drawing on grading.

"Um. I don't actually know. I'm sure we do. What do you have to prove?"

Parker's eyes got very big before she got her expression under control. "Hmmmmmmmmm. Well. Let me check." She shot Angela a look of concern, then went over to the card catalog, paging through, though she knew what she'd find.

Anakin gave Parker a confused look, then turned back to Rory. "Professor Skeeter thinks that the Jedi "no attachments" rule is me pretending not to be gay. I was hoping that a copy of the Code would prove my case, but it's not like I brought a copy of that stuff with me from Coruscant."

Anakin rolled his eyes. "A headline that Quinn wrote," he said. "About how all boys at Fandom High were gay. She didn't believe I wasn't because I hadn't asked her out." His forehead furrowed. "So I said that Jedi weren't allowed to date."

He paused. "I'm pretty sure there was snickering then."

Rory grinned.

"So you're just going to try to prove it to her by dragging a book in? Why do you care so much?" She rolled her eyes. "I mean, she thinks I'm the biggest whore of the school. So pff."

"Either way, you can't find it in the normal library." Parker actually managed to feel regretful as well as sound it; if there had been easy-to-find stuff, she could've just waved him onto it. The stuff in Special Collections, and Anakin seeing it, made her... nervous. "Sorry, Skywalker. It looks like everything we have on the Jedi is in Special Collections. You need a note from a teacher, and a specific project you're researching, to be allowed in there."

Anakin made a face. "Guess I'll have to visit Professor Skeeter during office hours, then," he said. "Thanks for your help."

Anakin smiled again at Rory, then walked out of the library.

The emotions Parker had been throwing off made his skin crawl. He wondered what was making her so nervous.
