Speech Comm

A young girl with red hair and a black suit sits cross legged on the table in front of the class. She's eating doughnuts and drinking a coke.

301--InterComm 3rd period

"Hey! So today we're gonna talk about senders, and how the ethos of the sender can chage the message. Ethos is the credibility of the speaker, as opposed to Logos which is the logic of the argument or Pathos which is an appeal to the emotions of the receiver. Got it? Cool.

Kay, so...I'm not looking like myself and that might have maybe caused a problem or two over the weekend. So you're all smart and stuff, especially Shep there, whatcha think? Tell me all you know aout senders and how they craft the message".

401--Advanced 5th period

She's nearly bouncing around, and she lays printouts of the images in front of them.

"Gestalt! Got you attention? We're going to break these down using the Gestalt principles of design and see if we can decide what gives them power. Ask me whatever, you know. It's cool. This is new and kinda hard and stuff.

To say Togusa was a little befuddled by the teachers change was an understatement. "Send a message about why you look so different?"

Maia sat down watching C.J. very closely and then raised her hand "Ms. C.J. um, if you don't mind me saying so, you look very nice today." Maia looked thoughtful then "The sender is the originator of the message and so they can basically decide how they want the message sent. I mean if they want it clear or not depends on how they word it."

Maia glanced around the room for a moment and then back at C.J. "Well...there was a misunderstanding a couple months ago and you were upset with me over Shane and Tara." Maia watched C.J. carefully as she said this "But you and talked and I explained what happened and so you and I can communicate very easily now though I must say I hope I never see you mad at me again." She was totally not sure if thats what C.J. wanted her to say or not she was still baffled by the young C.J. in front of her.

Maia looked very thoughtful while she stared at C.J. "Well that would depend." She said finally "On other factors of you looking like this." Maia said finally. "But yeah you looking like this does take away from your power position and its effect. I mean hell, if I got angry with you would you say 'there is Maia being angry with me' or 'oh hell this 68 year old woman is pissed at me and she is older then me so her power postion comes into play." Maia raised an eyebrow waiting for C.J.'s response.

As Shep walks in a few minutes before class starts, he sees the girl from the bar sitting on CJ's desk when he comes in. He facepalms and seriously considers skipping class. Then he remembers.

Standing in the doorway he hollers, "Hey Neptune! Com'ere!" He gestures out into the hall.

Shep makes a face at her. She's got an awfully smart mouth. "To keep you from getting your ass kicked. You told me you weren't a student here. I told Lana you weren't a student here. If she sees you..."

He's not sure which was more likely - this new girl getting her face slapped again or him getting pounced on for lying. Only... he hadn't.

Allie blinks at the young girl leading class. She has no idea who she is or where Professor Cregg is.

Lindsey is confused by the girl at the front of the room until he remembers something from the radio this weekend. He hadn't paid much attention, but somebody might have said something about teachers becoming teenagers.

"This place just gets weirder by the day..."

Security Check

Fraser's passing by the classroom when he notices a teenager sitting at the head of the class instead of a teacher. Neither Principal Smith nor Dean Washburn had notified him of a teaching change nor of a student teacher so he stops and knocks on the door before opening it and stepping inside.

"Pardon the interruption," he says, nodding at the students, "but does this class have a teacher?"

"Benton Fraser, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and new head of security for the school," Fraser replies, taking her hand. "You're the speech teacher? Pardon me for being forward, but you do seem slightly young to have a faculty position."

Fraser follows her into the corner, tucking his hat under his arm.

"I have been informed of what locker 327 has done in the past," Fraser tells her. "So, you're saying that it regressed you to the age of a teenager?"

Just before 5th period

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-01-23 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack hadn't seen CJ all weekend, and while they'd gotten a lot of talking done in the emo closet, he figured it would be nice to see her somewhere he wasn't locked into.

He stepped into Humanities #2, side-stepping the closet he'd gotten shoved into before, and looked around for CJ. Instead, he saw a teenage redhead. A very hot teenage redhead.

Jack? Never listens to the radio.

Jack grins. "Hey, yourself. What's a hot girl like you doing alone in a classroom like this?"

Jack tilts his head to the side. He thought Liz was her TA. Maybe that was just last semester, and one of the new students was TAing this semester.

But why would CJ be handing off class duties to a TA? She'd only done that with Liz when she'd really, really been unable to come to class. Brow furrowed, Jack asked, "Why are you running class?"
