Angela is behind the collections desk, iPod earphones in her ears, the Smiths playing loudly.

She'd probably hit the pause button if someone came in.

The notice asking Winifred Burkle to come in for a new card is still taped to the door.

Zero is pretty much half asleep by this point, but she does manage to mumble something that might be, "Free," before drifting off into bye-bye land.

Just then a small ugly blue dog ran into library, a maniacal look on its face.

"Rararararar!" It exclaimed as it ran into one of the book sections and start throwing books everywhere as though it was searching for something.

Well, that woke her up. Zero scrambled out from under the desk, reaching for her mallet. "What the squall?"

It occurred to her this might be a student. "I mean. Um. Can I help you?"

"Ohana!" The creature squealed as it raced to the next bookshelf and started tearing through it.

"Ohana?" Zero looked helplessly at Angela. "Is that Japanese?"

"Because I speak it so well? How should I know?" Angela asks helplessly. She has jumped up and is now sitting on top of the collections counter, hopefully higher than the .... thing can jump.

But something connects in her morning-fogged brain. "Marty told me somebody gave him an ugly blue dog. Wonder if that's it. He didn't say it talked."

"I don't know; but since I seriously doubt the ape speaks Japanese, I figured I'd ask." Zero is doing the brave and stupid thing, inching around the counter toward the blue thing. "Well, it is ugly and blue, but...that's a dog?"

"Good points," Angela allows, watching the thing rip through the shelves. It seems to find what it wanted.

"Do you think it reads, too?"

The ugly blue thing ran to another book shelf and began to throw more books off until it found what it was looking for.

Holding up a copy of "The Ugly Duckling," the blue dog shouted "Ohana! Family! Ohana!"

"Ohana?," Angela hollers back at the thing.

Then, to Zero, plaintively: "Marty said dog..."

"Ohana!" the blue thing squealed hopping up and down and waving the book at the girl with the dyed red hair. "Family!"

"Family?" Angela asks. "Is your family here?"

Yes, she's talking to a blue thing at 8:30 a.m. No, she isn't paid nearly enough for this.

The ugly blue thing does a face palm and sighs and decides he needs to find help elsewhere.

He makes a wild dash for the door, the book held in his mouth.

"Bye," Angela calls after it. "Sorry." Her voice trails off into a mumble. "Yeah, I'm going crazy. Knew it would happen."

She goes over to the shelf the blue thing had taken the book from and begins wearily reshelving things.

At some point, she calls Marty. Just in case she hasn't sounded like enough of an idiot around him lately.

As if reading Angela's mind, Zero grumbles, "We really should get paid for this."

"We don't?" Angela asks, frowning. "Money is ending up in my account somehow..."

Zero considers this. "Really?" Of course, Zero is kind of the daughter of successful recording artists, so it's entirely possible she just hasn't noticed.

"Really," Angela confirms. "I mean, I think so. Maybe it's one of those quirks of Fandom High. Or else my player is completely misremembering something, which is always possible."
