"Hello, Mr. MacLeod. I did what you asked," Parker said, showing up in work-out clothes. "I did some research on different types of self-defense. I think maybe Aikido would be a better fit for me."
"I think that's a really good call. In my opinion, you can be more devious in aikido anyway." He nods approvingly. "Warm up, and we'll start some simple drills."
Parker smiled and bowed, then went through her stretches, along with the dance positions she learned, and finally got limber enough to feel confident. "Ready when you are, sir."
He's been stretching himself. "Okay." He starts with simple things, letting her get used to the change in styles and then picking up the pace somewhat.
This week goes much more smoothly than last. She isn't fighting her kicking or boxing instincts so much, and the holds are familiar enough for her to pick them up fairly easily.
After a few holds and sparring, she asks, "What school is this one, or is it a combination? And do I need to study the philosophy that goes with it? Because to be honest, I'm not much one for 'harmony of spirit'. I'm willing to try, but...."
After class, Cameron approaches Duncan. "Mr MacLeod? I'm sorry I missed class yesterday. I was wondering if there was any way I could catch up with the work we did then."
"Professor MacLeod? I was wondering if you'd sign this drop form for me." Vala smiled at him. "It's not that I don't like the class, but the mun I just took on too much this semester and I'm thinking maybe I could take it next year instead?"
