Sociology of Violence: 2nd Period

Grissom hands everyone an article to read ~~skim~~ when they come in.

"So, are men truly more violent than women? The current population of the prison system, much of history, perhaps even biological factors, may lend you to agree. But the population of women in prisons is on the rise, and there are hundreds of scientists, philosophers, and politicians who would disagree.

Today, I just want to hear what you think, although support of your ideas is always encouraged, and feel free to engage your classmates."

Homework: Read Gender, Violence and the Social Order by Jayne Mooney for Wednesday. It's only 274 pages.

Sociology of the Paranormal: 6th Period

"Today, we will be studying The Scientific Method. For some of you, this is old news. For others, perhaps not. It is important for all of us to be on the same page when it comes to evaluating the paranormal, and although all of us have been introduced to new ideas and even sciences in Fandom, there must be some base for us to work from, and we will be using proper Earth scientific procedures for the most part."

Grissom lectures quickly, then hands each student a brown paper bag. Inside each is a box of Twinkies.

"You will be assigned partners and a lab station below. Please take your test materials to the proper work desk now, and remember, I want to see you form and test a hypothesis."

"Also, don't eat any twinkies you use in the experiments. I have extras, if you are seriously hungry. Please use all the proper equipment, and ask if you have any questions."

You will be performing The Gravitational Response Test (http://www.twinkiesproject.com/gravitational.html).

The elevator is to your left when you walk out of the lab. Take it to the top of the building. And don't peg anyone with a Twinkie ~~unless you can find someone to peg, then go for it, Grissom will totally get you out of trouble, Syd and Archie are around and potential, willing victims.~~

Bel grinned at the assignment and waited for his partners to show up.

[OOC: Will not be online between 5:00 - 6:00 PM EST, but other than that am around for twinkie hijinks.]

Piper is not at all happy about destoying innocent baked goods. She may have even been flailing.

"How's Phoebe?" she asked Bel while waiting for Mac to show up.

"She's doing okay," Bel said. "Doctor Wilson said she may have a scar on her leg but there was no muscle damage, so she'll be able to walk and everything." He looked relieved. "Hopefully she'll be coming home today."

"That's good to hear," Piper said, also relieved.

Mac finally finds her group, she's quite amused at the idea of twinkie experimentation, this class should be fun. She grins in greeting, "You all about ready to throw some processed food?"

"Yes," Bel said solemnly. "And I think, in the interests of science, we should test impact on the ground and impact on a moving object on the ground as well."

Piper nodded in agreement.

"Too bad I can't blow them up," Piper grinned, starting to feel better about destroying food.

Bel looked at Piper and grinned. "Extra credit! Blow up a few that we don't drop!"

Mac grinned, "What or who do you propose dropping stuff on?"

Piper glances at Sydney. "Ooh, potential victim."

"Who's going to drop it?" Bel said, still grinning madly.

"If no-one else is going to get this started, I'm always happy to." She's sporting a mischevious grin, she obviously has absolutely no problem with the destruction of twinkies.

"By all means, ladies first," Bel said, handing a twinkie to Mac.

Mac takes the twinkie ~~between two fingers cause ew, so not vegan~~ making her way to hold her arm outstretched over the ledge. "Here we go." Taking a surrupticious glance over the edge, she releases the twinkie taking a quick step backwards, out of the eyeline of any potential victims below.

Archie is pacing around the building, trying to make a habit of an afternoon walk.

Piper peered over the edge of the roof, spotting Archie. "He's so unsuspecting."

Mac smiled. "Thats probably a good thing." she shrugged, "it's so much harder to aim at people when they know what you're doing." She takes another step back, to watch this play out.

Piper grinned. "Here goes."

She took the twinkie, carefully aiming it at Archie. Without a second thought, she let go, and then quickly moved out of view.

Certainly the last thing Archie was expecting as he stood there enjoying the fresh air was to be accosted from above by an item so incongruously spongy, yet unnaturally golden in color. To say nothing of the cream filling.

So getting one directly in the face was quite the shock, really. One might almost be able to excuse him the highly undignified shriek.
