Sociology of Violence: 2nd Period

Grissom hands everyone an article to read ~~skim~~ when they come in.

"So, are men truly more violent than women? The current population of the prison system, much of history, perhaps even biological factors, may lend you to agree. But the population of women in prisons is on the rise, and there are hundreds of scientists, philosophers, and politicians who would disagree.

Today, I just want to hear what you think, although support of your ideas is always encouraged, and feel free to engage your classmates."

Homework: Read Gender, Violence and the Social Order by Jayne Mooney for Wednesday. It's only 274 pages.

Sociology of the Paranormal: 6th Period

"Today, we will be studying The Scientific Method. For some of you, this is old news. For others, perhaps not. It is important for all of us to be on the same page when it comes to evaluating the paranormal, and although all of us have been introduced to new ideas and even sciences in Fandom, there must be some base for us to work from, and we will be using proper Earth scientific procedures for the most part."

Grissom lectures quickly, then hands each student a brown paper bag. Inside each is a box of Twinkies.

"You will be assigned partners and a lab station below. Please take your test materials to the proper work desk now, and remember, I want to see you form and test a hypothesis."

"Also, don't eat any twinkies you use in the experiments. I have extras, if you are seriously hungry. Please use all the proper equipment, and ask if you have any questions."

This test will take longer than the class period, so leave it out until next class. There are some slightly more dangerous chemicals to use as well, for fun. Please, wear gloves and goggles.

I have the blenders right here, you may use my desk as a Work Station. ~~Go through the drawers if you want, but don't find anything too dirty, although whatever is in there would freak Jaye out, bien sur.~~

The elevator is to your left when you walk out of the lab. Take it to the top of the building. And don't peg anyone with a Twinkie ~~unless you can find someone to peg, then go for it, Grissom will totally get you out of trouble, Syd and Archie are around and potential, willing victims.~~

Paige signs in

Lana collects her materials and goes to the correct workstation. In case we set ourselves on *fire*? she thinks. She reads through the information and can't keep herself from giggling.

Aeryn signs in.

Shep picks up a twinkie and the electric leads.

"Yeah, and if this goes wrong, my hair will *never* lie flat." Though he's pretty sure that no one would be able to tell the difference.

Angela signs in.

"I don't see why the gender stereotype even has to be there," says Aeryn, who's probably more violent than most men she's ever known. "Even here, the females are more likely to hit you for being stupid than the males are."

Lana giggles from her station when she hears that.

Cordelia signs in.

Jaye signs in.

Jaye would totally NEVER EVER DREAM of going through those drawers, kthnx, and she's closing her eyes and not listening if anyone else does.

Is Phoebe in classes, or is she too injured?

Angela reads the instructions for the experiment as she watches for Rose and Jaye to arrive.
