[chasingangela]

A subdued and somewhat red-eyed Angela opens the library at the start of second period and props herself behind the collections desk. She casts a glance at the pile of books to be sorted; she'll get to them eventually.

And then she just sits there, staring into space and thinking.

She has her head buried in her hands, but she would be more alert if someone came in. Probably.

"Hey, people," Elizabeth smiled at them as she entered the library. "How's things?"

"I'm trying not to ruin my manicure. Do you know why Phoebe's posters are down? Or why she's withdrawn from the race?"

"Ruining your manicure would be a bad thing," Elizabeth nodded, regarding her own nails critically. "I've not got the slightest idea. I've not seen her around all weekend."

"Hmmmm." Parker pouted, then looked over at Bel. "I suppose I could go to the source... and get my head bitten off." She made a face. "Cover me, I'm going in."

She walked over to talk to Bel.

"Holler if you need the mallet."

"Thanks. Into the breach and so on, and so forth."

Elizabeth pulled her own face. "Good luck with that," she said.

Parker came back about ten minutes later, looking disturbed. "Phoebe was attacked by demons over the weekend. She's not running because she's still hurt."

"Phoebe withdrew? I didn't hear that. What happened?" Realizing her mistake, she rubs her forehead. "I mean, as far as you know."

"No idea, but all her posters are gone, and people haven't seen her for a couple days. Maybe she went home? Or maybe she's stressing out?" Parker shook her head. "If she quit because it was too much for her, it would've been nice to hear about it. This just rattles me."

"At least she decided to do it before the elections," Elizabeth remarked, perhaps slightly tartly.

"Point," Angela says, smirking a little. "She left me a message about that gremlin petition. She was thinking about withdrawing then. Maybe something happened to ti[p the balance for her?"

"The grelims didn't appreciate her desire to wipe them out and initiated a strike first tactic?" Elizabeth suggests, a tad too innocently.

Angela is not covering up a laugh by coughing into her hand. Nope.

Parker came back about ten minutes later, looking disturbed. "Phoebe was attacked by demons over the weekend. She's not running because she's still hurt."

The smile dies on Angela's face.

"That's awful. What happened, exactly? And is she home now, or the clinic, or where?"

"I didn't get a lot of details, just that the demons responsible have been 'dealt with', and they probably attacked her because she's a witch." Parker chewed her lower lip. "I told Bel that I'd stop by and visit her tonight, she should be out of the clinic and back in her room by then. I can at least give her chocolate. And not mention the election."

Angela covers her mouth with her hand, the conversation she had been having with Parker about new students forgotten. "I'll come with you," she says immediately. "And I should call her before I have to go to class, too. Just to let her know people care, y'know?"

"I can't imagine she's thinking about the election."

"Sure. I'll grab some chocolate. That's got to help a little." Parker shrugged, grimacing. "Yeah, I doubt she cares at this point either. But it's been weird because of that, so I'll just leave it alone."
