Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Jessica stands in the gym doorway for quite some time, not really sure if she should enter. She wanted to, that was for sure, as she had spent hours getting ready. Wearing her light green gown (her favorite), her best pearls, white gloves, white high heels and a white silk scarf, Jessica glowed. After gathering up enough courage she approachs the refreshment table, pours a glass of punch, and stands there swirling the cup about with her hand.

"Alcohol free for now and everything, Princess," Chiana says, grinning.

"Hiya!" says Jessica, smiling and giving a wave with her free hand. "Its wonderful to see you, Chiana." Jessica cocks her head and gives Chiana a rather quizzical, surprised look. "Princess?"

"Well, yeah," she says, flicking her hand at one of Jessica's curls. And that's really all the answer she's going to get to that. "Oh, um... thanks for the dress. Definitely don't think I ever something in the mail like that before."

Jessica holds curl out in front of her face, goes cross eyed staring at it for a second, then shakes her head, blinks a few times and shrugs her shoulders. "Okay" says Jessica with a smile. "And oh, yes, you are most welcome Chiana. And if there is anything wrong with it I can send it somewhere to be tailored, you just let me know, okay dear?"

Chiana blinks. "Okaaay then. So, you here with some special male or female? Or you just here to watch everybody get drunk?" Because, yes, that's the only reasons Chiana can see for coming to a dance.

Jessica's smile faded as she looked at the floor. One of the things that had been on her mind when she was standing in the gym doorway was the fact that she was standing there alone. Jessica was in no way embarrassed that she came alone, but still. "Ohh Chiana. I wish I had come with a date, but I am such a complete and utter spaz, I would have never been able bring myself to ask someone. No no." Jessica shook her head and took a sip of her punch. "Are you here with someone special?"

"Frell, have you *seen* some of the beings here? I'm sure a pretty girl like you can't be as much as a.. a 'spaz' as you think, compared to them. As for me, nah, I'm not here with anybody. Yet." Chiana winks at her.

Jessica smiles and laughs. "I see..." She playfully nudges Chiana with her elbow and scans the room. "Soo...locked on any particular target?"

Jessica, after scanning the room, notices there is no one else, well...like Chiana. Concerned, she wonders to herself if that kind of thing bothers her at all.
